NASCAR: 2024 Daytona qualifying updates, full starting lineup

As a seasoned gamer with a heart for NASCAR racing, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway! With its rich history and high-speed action, this race has always been a thrill to watch.

Despite not being the final race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season as it was in the past four years, Daytona International Speedway can significantly shape the makeup of the upcoming 16-driver playoff roster for the four-stage, ten-race postseason.

The upcoming 160-lap race, known as the Coke Zero Sugar 400, takes place at Daytona Beach, Florida’s four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked oval track. This event is one of only four superspeedway races in the regular season, which consists of 26 races in total. It is also the second to last race before the playoffs begin.

Twice during the regular season, a single track – Atlanta Motor Speedway in February and Talladega Superspeedway in April – has been used for racing events. Notably, Daytona was the site of the season’s kick-off event, the Daytona 500, back in February. Both Atlanta and Talladega are included on the playoff schedule as well.

At Daytona, which is a superspeedway, NASCAR won’t employ group qualifying to establish the starting grid. Instead, they will stick to an individual qualifying round, where the order is set using a four-factor metric introduced by NASCAR in 2020.
