Naomi Watts is officially the mom of a college student. 

The 56-year-old New York resident, who recently celebrated her son Sasha’s 18th birthday, appeared to struggle with the thought of letting her eldest child venture out into the world on his own.

Overjoyed and melancholic, I couldn’t help but express my feelings as I posted a picture of him, my amazing son, standing by our front door, luggage in tow. He was embarking on a new journey, but the sight of him readying to leave left me with a bittersweet mix of emotions.

Watts nestled her head into her tall son’s shoulder, holding him tightly with a firm embrace around his waist.

Sasha appeared comfortable in a spacious white T-shirt and roomy blue denim pants, much like how she looked relaxed in her attire that consisted of a long, wide-legged pair of jeans, an oversized tan jacket, and a button-down shirt under the given circumstances.

57-year-old actor Liev Schreiber, known as Dad, announced that his teenage child will attend the University of Southern California located in Los Angeles for their studies.

On that particular day, it appeared that one of our pets, Izzy, was a bit hesitant about the event as she perched herself atop one of the teen’s suitcases.

A different take: Another charming photo captured Sasha bidding farewell to her 16-year-old sister, Kai, who, like their mother, concealed her face from the camera during the moment.

Watts shares both of her children with her ex-partner Schreiber. 

The Ray Donovan actor gave his son a sweet sendoff on social media as well. 

He expressed, accompanied by a photo of them both, that he was beginning to feel a sense of affection, his arm tenderly wrapped around his son’s shoulder.

I’ll surely be sad to see my loyal companion go. Nevertheless, USC will welcome one of the most compassionate, courageous, and radiant young men I’ve ever met, as I affectionately refer to him,” the proud father said.

For eleven years, Watts and Schreiber formed a partnership. However, by the year 2016, they chose to go their individual ways, stating that the most beneficial decision for them as a family unit was to part ways romantically.

Over the years, they’ve kept up a solid partnership as coparents, regularly celebrating their children’s achievements together. Most recently, they marked Sasha’s high school prom and graduation events jointly.

Watts married longtime love Billy Crudup in a courthouse ceremony in June 2023.

In the coming month, Schreiber tied the knot with Taylor Neisen, during an intimate home wedding in Montauk. A month afterwards, they joyfully welcomed their first shared child, Hazel Bee.

Upon sharing news about the newborn, Watts was among the initial ones to extend congratulations to the proud parents. On her social media platform, she expressed affectionately, “We adore Baby Hazel!

In an interview with CBS This Morning soon after their separation, Schreiber expressed that, as parents, they are bound together for life, and they have a strong bond. He hoped this would remain unchanged, and he believed it wouldn’t.
