Apple TV+’s popular series, Presumed Innocent, will be back for a second season this June, but with a completely new set of actors. The first season followed a prosecutor, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who found himself as the main suspect when a coworker he was having an affair with was murdered.
Rachel Brosnahan was previously confirmed to star in season two of Presumed Innocent, and now Variety reports that Judith Light, known for her role in Ugly Betty, will be joining the cast.
The cast already includes stars like Matthew Rhys (from The Americans), Courtney B. Vance (Lovecraft Country), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), Jack Reynor (Midsommar), John Magaro (Past Lives), Michael Hsu Rosen (Tiny Pretty Things), Lesley-Ann Brandt (Lucifer), and Ji-young Yoo (Until Dawn), and is now joined by Light.

It’s still unclear who Light will portray, and the details of season two’s storyline haven’t been fully announced. However, based on the novel the show is adapted from – Dissection of a Murder by Jo Murray – we can expect the season to center around Leila Reynolds (Brosnahan) as she takes on her first murder case. She’s surprised to discover the victim is a prominent and well-known judge.
This case is far too complex for her experience level. However, the defendant, Jack Millman, specifically requested her – and no one else – to handle it.

To top it off, he won’t even speak to her. It’s incredibly difficult to build a defense for a case that seems impossible to win, especially when failure isn’t something she can accept. She needs to discover a truly compelling argument.
Winning a trial isn’t about impressing the judge or other lawyers; it’s about persuading the jury. Now, Leila is not only struggling to prevent Jack from going to prison, but also to keep her own hidden truths from being revealed.
Okay, so I recognized the name immediately! It’s awesome to learn that Natasha Lyonne isn’t the only talent on Poker Face. Turns out, this actress, Light, is a total pro – she’s been in tons of movies, TV shows, and even on stage. She’s been nominated for an Emmy five times, and actually won Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy in 2023 for her work on the show! Pretty cool, right?
Okay, so I was looking up the cast, and this actress actually won Tony Awards two years running – 2012 for Other Desert Cities and 2013 for The Assembled Parties! Seriously, that’s a huge deal. It just proves they’ve added another incredibly talented person to an already amazing group of actors.

The 2024 television series Presumed Innocent was adapted from Scott Turow’s 1987 novel and received favorable reviews.
According to TheWrap, the show is full of unexpected developments, and Peter Gyllenhaal delivers a strong, central performance, supported by a particularly impressive ensemble cast.
I was completely hooked by this movie! Movie Files said it’s a really tense and gripping courtroom thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat week by week, and they weren’t kidding. Plus, Jake Gyllenhaal gives what I think is a career-best performance. They even called it one of the best murder mysteries of the year, and honestly, I’d agree!
A second season of Presumed Innocent hasn’t been scheduled yet, but you can currently stream the first season on Apple TV.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant 100-page tribute to Harry Styles, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
