Nadia Bartel's Henne store in Sydney is labelled a 'flop' by frustrated shoppers while staff are slammed as rude: 'They think they are Chanel'

As a dedicated follower of fashion, I have had my fair share of both delightful and disappointing shopping experiences. The recent opening of Nadia Bartel’s Henne store in Sydney, unfortunately, falls into the latter category for me.

Critics, including dissatisfied customers, have labeled Nadia Bartel’s Henne store in Sydney as a disappointment. They have voiced concerns over the store’s staff, claiming they are unhelpful or indifferent.

In June of this year, the Australian fashion designer, aged 39, launched a Henne store in Paddington, marking the second anniversary since the brand’s initial store debut in Melbourne back in 2022.

Meanwhile, the newly opened store has received a blend of opinions from customers, as shown by one individual who recently shared their shopping encounter on TikTok.

User @claudiaarose15 expressed disappointment when she shared that she didn’t manage to enter the store due to a reported two-hour wait.

Other shoppers concurred with her negative assessment, stating that both store branches tend to be excessively crowded with customers, and they alleged that the staff can be unfriendly at times.

Claudia posted a video showing long lines snaking up outside the two-story boutique, where eager customers were lined up and waiting their chance to enter during opening hours.

She mentioned that they had spent an hour attempting to enter the Henne boutique, enduring the scorching sun with no provision for refreshments or seating. Despite these inconveniences, she made it clear that it was not a significant issue for her.

‘First of all, the store is like tiny, you look through the window and can see the whole thing.’

Apologies, but such customer treatment doesn’t sit well with me at all, it was disappointing to say the least. I won’t be returning #henne #review #shopping #Sydney #mumtok #fyp

Later on, Claudia asserted that they had already spent an hour waiting, only for a staff member to inform them of another expected wait of 60 minutes because of lineups in the fitting rooms. This delay prompted Claudia to depart from the store.

She shared: ‘”We’re waiting for an hour, we’re second from the front and this woman appears from the f**king door, the sales assistant, and says ”there’s 10 people waiting for the dressing room and will be a one hour wait to get into the store”.

Is it a two-hour wait until we can enter Henne in Sydney, Australia? I apologize! Let’s leave then, let’s get out of here, I can’t stay any longer.

In my opinion, I had already spent an hour immersed in the captivating ambiance of the Henne store when she suggested another hour. Thus, here’s my personal take on this unique shopping experience.

‘I stood on their stairs for literally an hour in the blazing sun and I left!’

Claudia was angry because she decided not to come back, labeling the store as a “failure”. Many other users also expressed their similar frustrations in the comments section.

She expressed her displeasure by stating, “I’m sorry, but this kind of customer treatment just doesn’t sit well with me. It’s disappointing. I have no plans to return.” She accompanied this message with a video.

Others contended that the in-store experience at Henne was subpar for a luxury designer store.

One wrote: ‘I love Henne but the instore experience is awful. The girls working at the Melbourne store gave mean girl energy and I felt so uncomfortable. It’s also tiny and only 2 change rooms.’

One person exclaimed, “I adore the place, but it’s just not worth it. It’s simply HENNE, buddy,” as another commented, “The women at HENNE are incredibly rude! It’s really unpleasant.” (Informal and conversational)

A fourth individual mentioned: ‘Today, I arrived precisely at opening hours, yet the staff failed to open the door as scheduled. The staff’s behavior was unfriendly and disrespectful.’

And another added: ‘Eeeew they think they’re Chanel lol, how sad.’

On the contrary, fellow shoppers swiftly came to the brand’s aid by recounting their pleasant encounters with the ‘wonderful’ staff at the Sydney and Melbourne outlets, backing up its reputation.

One said: ‘I’m confused, it’s been open in Sydney for a while now? Why are there lines lol. I walked straight in when I visited.’

1st person said: ‘I found it strange, but when I entered the Melbourne store, they were friendly towards me.’

A fourth shared: ‘Midday Friday you walk in and out in a few minutes.’

Overwhelmed by the team’s feedback at Henne, they’ve consistently shown warmth whenever I’ve visited.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Henne and Nadia’s representatives for comment.

Since Nadia, Michelle Ring, and Laura Broque introduced their brand together back in 2019, Henne’s success has grown steadily and powerfully over the past five years.

On their site, you’ll find they prioritize several key principles: amplifying women’s perspectives, promoting circular design, conscious shopping, ensuring fair labor practices, and minimizing negative environmental footprints.

‘The statement implies that by crafting every piece with durability in mind, we lessen our environmental footprint for upcoming generations.’

Previously, Henne operated solely as an online retailer, but now it also has brick-and-mortar stores in Sydney and Melbourne.

In a thrilling turn of events, Nadia shared the news with her audience that our very first specialty shop has become a reality! It’s set to open its doors this week, and I can hardly believe it myself – it truly feels like a dream come true!

The new Sydney store boasts changing rooms and large mirrors, as well as a seating area and a blue staircase that leads to another level.
