As a horror movie enthusiast with a soft spot for supernatural entities that lurk in the shadows, I’ve seen my fair share of malevolent beings that prey on the innocent and unsuspecting. The latest addition to this terrifying roster is “Bagman,” a chilling new horror film from Lionsgate.
Let’s introduce another character known as “Bagman,” a movie that revolves around a menacing figure who kidnaps children and puts them in his ominous bag, ensuring they disappear forever. It should not be mixed up with “Baghead,” a different film released this year featuring Freya Allan from “The Witcher.”
As a longtime horror movie enthusiast, having grown up watching classics like “Night of the Living Dead” and “The Exorcist,” I must admit that my excitement for the upcoming movie “Bagman” is tempered by the less-than-stellar track record of Lionsgate’s recent horror offerings. With “Prey for the Devil” and “The Strangers: Chapter 1” under their belt, neither of which were particularly well-received, it’s hard not to feel a little skeptical about this new release. However, I find myself willing to give “Bagman” a chance, despite its January castoff energy. After all, even the best horror movies often get overlooked during the holiday season, and I have faith that there may be hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Fingers crossed that “Bagman” will prove to be one of them!
1. In the role of Patrick McKee, Sam Claflin portrays an individual who, as a youngster, was haunted by the concept of the sinister “Bagman” – a malevolent figure that tricks children into entering traps filled with alluring toys and sweets before stuffing them into his ominous sack, possibly consuming them. With his wife (Antonia Thomas) and son (Caréll Vincent Rhoden) to safeguard as responsible adults, Patrick confronts the Bagman once more when this evil entity threatens his beloved family in a harrowing ordeal.
According to John Hulme’s script, Colm McCarthy, renowned for helming “The Girl with All the Gifts” and the “Black Museum” episode of “Black Mirror,” takes the reins in directing “Bagman.” The film boasts an impressive cast including Sharon D. Clarke, Steven Cree, William Hope, Adelle Leonce, Peter McDonald, Henry Pettigrew, and Will Davis, alongside Thomas, Claflin, and Rhoden. As of now, “Bagman” remains unrated.
1. Lionsgate unveiled the movie poster, highlighting one of the eerie dolls that the Bagman employs to lure his victims, as shown in the image. (This version maintains a similar structure and tone while making it easier for readers to understand the action depicted.)

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the cinematic release of “Bagman”. However, before that, Lionsgate is set to unleash “The Crow” starring Bill Skarsgärd on the silver screen come August 23rd. The same studio is also working on the adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, “The Long Walk”, and rumor has it, they’ll be releasing the next installment of their rebooted “The Strangers” trilogy sometime this year too!
