The captivating South African mystery show, previously unnoticed, has stealthily dropped its second season on Netflix.
In this new crime thriller, Daryne Joshua and Travis Taute have crafted a tale centered around Zenzile Mwale, played by Gail Mabalane, who appears to be an ordinary house cleaner but finds herself committing a series of murders in her quest to find her lost husband.
After making its premiere in 2023, the second season of this show is now accessible on Netflix, featuring a total of twelve episodes. These include the initial six episodes from the first season, as well as the additional six episodes from the new season, all ready for viewing on the streaming platform.
In the second series, Zenzile finds herself compelled to rely on those who imprisoned her following another unfortunate event. The narrative question poses whether her fresh longing for liberation could ultimately help her find peace from her sorrow.
In the style of the Turkish show “Fatma”, the tagline for the initial season of “Unseen” goes as follows (via Tudum): “At first sight, Zenzile Mwale, the protagonist of Unseen, appears to be an ordinary house cleaner. However, in the opening scenes, we discover that Zenzi, who might seem shy and unassuming, is actually a murderer.

In her eagerness to locate her recently freed spouse, an unforeseen turn of events leads her to fatally attack a prominent criminal figure in the area, causing a wave of dangerous gangsters to pursue her relentlessly.
To survive and avoid imprisonment, Zenzi finds herself compelled to commit another murder while relentlessly seeking her lost spouse. In this pursuit, she gradually unearths a vast web of corruption, implicating a dishonest bank and influential individuals of great power.
So far, the program has garnered mostly favorable critiques. Notably, Movies and Munchies commented that the first season keeps viewers engaged by presenting engaging challenges and interactions, frequently resulting in thrilling and violent confrontations while sustaining a sense of mystery.

In a remarkably favorable assessment, both “But Why Tho? A Geek Community” and “Common Sense Media” commended the series for its compelling protagonist who is both relatable and empathetic, with the former describing it as “engaging”, and the latter terming it as “solid” and “suspenseful”.
According to their critique on the second season, LeisureByte concluded that the latest episodes delved deeply into Zenzile’s quest for vengeance, displaying numerous deceased individuals as her story reaches its climactic, heroic conclusion.
Unseen seasons 1-2 are streaming on Netflix now.
