Myleene Klass defends pal Kym Marsh as Nigel Lythgoe makes outrageous weight jibes to Hear’Say stars on Popstars in resurfaced video

On Monday, Myleene Klass came to the defense of her friend Kym Marsh on Instagram following old comments about her weight made by Nigel Lythgoe during Popstars that were recently brought up in a video.

In 2001, they both gained recognition through the ITV show Popstars and joined the band known as Hear’Say.

In my role as a lifestyle expert during the show, I found myself offering advice to Kym about her health and wellness. While discussing her dietary habits and physical fitness, I expressed my concern and suggested that she consider adopting a healthier lifestyle by possibly losing some weight. My intention was to help her achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.

In the video, Kym inquired, “Could I appear heavier due to the holidays?”, and Nigel responded with, “It seems like you may have gained some pounds over the holiday season. Are you keeping up with your workouts? Is your current eating plan working for you?

Kym mentioned that they had begun something only today, which led Nigel to remark, “Given that you’ll be appearing on stage in six weeks, it might be a good idea to shed some pounds.

Myleene recently reposted the video on her Instagram Stories, expressing that she frequently experienced body shaming and it was common for celebrities to be weighed on movie sets.

She wrote: ‘Yes, daily. Some outfits for stylists might have their sizes trimmed to conceal the perceived embarrassment of double-digit numbers.’

My gossip journals are overflowing with such nonsense. Notably, the lads were embarrassed as well. Recall that TFI Friday featured weighing scales on set.

In the past, Kym openly discussed her battles with self-perception, admitting that she developed bulimia as a result of constantly comparing herself to slimmer peers during her stage school years.

Previously, Nigel justified his remarks concerning Kym by stating: ‘She has never looked better, her acting skills are exceptional, and she has achieved immense professional success.’

In 2001, the band Hear’Say was created on the ITV reality series Popstars, and they achieved great success with their top single “Pure and Simple.

Initially, the debut album Popstars was an enormous success for them, but the momentum began to fade significantly when their second release, titled Everybody, came out.

In October 2002, they parted ways, having formed just under two years prior through Popstars. During that period, they attributed their separation mainly to alleged public mistreatment.

Last year, Myleene shared with Loose Women viewers that her management closely monitored what and how much she ate, expressing fear that she might gain weight due to the public eye.

She mentioned that her primary concern is the examination process. Her daughter is currently 17 years old, and in a year, Suzie (one of her band members) will be 18, which is just a year away.

‘I think if someone put my daughter through that level of scrutiny or pressure…’

Even though she acknowledged significant improvement since that time, Myleene further mentioned: ‘Certain ordeals we endured, we were absolutely unprepared for.’

Five children found themselves in a room towards the close of the day, much like this group of five children in another room, with nothing more than this scene to describe.

She disclosed a startling truth about her band, stating that their tour managers would empty their mini-fridges and supply of food under the assumption that they were attempting to regulate their eating habits due to beliefs that they were overweight.

Prior to entering the studio, our tour manager would often gather a large bag and tidy away any food, as if we were young ones. This was due to the fact that he didn’t trust us completely and wanted to maintain our pristine public image, which required us to uphold a certain standard or role.

In a light-hearted moment, Myleene joked about an incident: ‘While I was on vacation, someone drew a circle around my cellulite.’

On the cover of every magazine, there used to be a large circular image that we wouldn’t tolerate showcasing cellulite nowadays.

Previously, Myleene shared memories of being advised to shed pounds for her part in the West End musical Miss Saigon when she was only 18 years old. This advice was given in a public setting.

During her appearance on “I’m A Celebrity All Stars,” the television figure shared an intimate moment with fellow contestant Carol Vorderman, who is 62 years old.

In simpler terms, when Myleene became part of the Miss Saigon production, she was informed alongside the other actresses that they needed to reduce their weight.

She mentioned that the disrespectful comment was made in the presence of her 24 male co-stars, all playing the role of American soldiers in the show.

Adding: ‘I wasn’t pulled aside and I just stood there and it swallowed me up’.

In 1989, Myleene starred in a heart-wrenching romantic tale that took place during the Vietnam War, where she acted alongside the esteemed Jonathan Pryce, aged 75 at the time. This production made its debut at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

In the course of our discussion, she recounted an experience from 2001 when she joined the band Hear’Say. She mentioned that afterwards, some of her band managers would comment, “You are the fattest pop band.

Instead, she emphasized that our success wasn’t just due to our individual talents or ability to read and play various instruments. Rather, it was about being known as the ‘heaviest band in pop.’
