Myleene Klass admits she broke down in tears during ‘feisty and fearless’ daughter Ava’s graduation ceremony as she recalls her ‘lonely and fearful’ journey as a single mother

Myleene Klass shared that she cried at her daughter’s graduation, considering it the end result of a challenging and lengthy solo parenting adventure.

On the weekend, the presenter, who is 47 years old, gleamed with joy as the gifted pianist Ava, aged 17, successfully completed her studies at the renowned Royal Academy of Music.

Myleene Klass is currently caring for her daughters Ava and Hero (from a previous marriage with Graham Quinn) as well as her son Apollo, who’s five years old, together with her partner Simon Motson.

In 2013, on her 35th birthday, Quinn chose to leave the presenter, leaving her with the responsibility of raising their two oldest children alone, having only been married for two years prior.

In a heartfelt Instagram post honoring Ava, I shared my thoughts, acknowledging that my early days were filled with solitude, apprehension, and an overwhelming sensation that the world seemed to be working against me. As I navigated through my journey of self-reliance, those feelings became all too familiar.

With several pictures of her graduation, Myleene impressively donned a black gown adorned with cream fabric folds, a dress that she had previously worn at the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning global movie premiere in London back in May.

Meanwhile Ava looked stunning in a red fitted floor-length gown which featured a meter long train.

Myleene posted that her daughter, Ava, has finally graduated from high school. She hasn’t shed this many tears in a long time. That’s due to the fact that I understand our shared history.

Today, I’d like to express a special appreciation to the remarkable single mothers (there are also dedicated single fathers, but I write from my personal perspective).

Just like you, there have been times when taking care of Ava (and Hero) made me feel as though the entire world was working against us, leaving me to face challenges all by myself.

Surrounded by a wonderful community, it’s undeniable that being a single mom with young children brought its own unique challenges. The constant fear, feelings of isolation, the burden of decision-making, and the mental load that often comes first, can at times feel incredibly overwhelming.

‘I appreciate those who wished for my failure, but I also express gratitude to the many who cheered us on to victory. Your encouragement has fueled my determination.’

She stated: ‘Today is a celebration of our accomplishments, I never wanted to disappoint my children. Ava, I’ve tirelessly worked to provide you with the very best I could offer, and you’ve seized every opportunity with enthusiasm, tenacity, and fortitude.’

You possess a remarkable blend of courage, strength, and ferocity beyond my expectations, but also display gentleness, love, and kindness that is equally striking.

In tough times, I found my resilience within my daughters. Seeing their concern for me and my burdens, I reassure them that I’ve been shaped by adversity. To all the strong single mothers out there, you are seen, and so are your children. Keep up the fantastic work, keep pushing forward with pride x

To my oldest darling, my Ava Bear, my firstborn, my eternal love, I am deeply grateful that you picked me to be your Mother.

You possess remarkable abilities, intelligence, insight, and you’re simply extraordinary. My day brightens and darkens around you. Venture out into the world according to your heart’s desire, my dear. But do remember to return occasionally to share your adventures with me. After all, I eagerly await hearing about your travels. With love, X

‘Klass of 2025, Dismissed’

In the year 2023, Ava demonstrated her exceptional talent on the cello when she performed alongside her mother on the popular morning talk show, Good Morning Britain.

Myleene expressed immense pride as she watched her daughter give an exceptional piano rendition of “The Fairytale of New York” by The Pogues on the morning television program.

Demonstrating a clear inheritance of her mother’s timeless artistic abilities, Ava captivated everyone with her heartfelt cello performance, causing Myleene to acknowledge that it stirred strong emotions within her.

Ava expressed that she’s long aspired to emulate Myleene, imitating her style and wishing to play music just as she does. She’s feeling quite emotional and incredibly proud.

Viewers admired the duo’s show, with one commenting: “Does anyone else find themselves tearing up when they see parents performing alongside their children? It’s just so heartwarming and precious.

A second added: ‘Absolutely beautiful and heartwarming.’

Previously, it was mentioned that Ava obtained her cello diploma at the tender age of 14 and secured a spot at the illustrious Royal Academy of Music.

On Instagram, she posted: ‘Beaming with pride! Today, my daughter Ava passed her Cello Diploma exam (@pianos_our_forte). (You won’t believe this, but most musicians usually take their Grade 8 at 16 and Diplomas around 17 or 18. She’s doing two at just 14!)’ Myleene captioned the photos of us outside the exam room.

This individual displays an exceptional level of dedication, possesses remarkable skills, and always takes her responsibilities seriously. However, it’s important to note that she is fundamentally kind at heart.

She makes me feel incredibly proud and I can’t help but cheer her on,” said the mother, who drove her to her exams and shed tears while waiting in the room as she listened to her daughter play beautifully, an experience that feels like a genuine honor.

Later on, Myleene shared that Ava will soon become part of the Royal Academy of Music. We’re excited to support her throughout her journey!

To those who admire Ava due to my piano skills, let me clarify that while I may have introduced her to music, it’s her own accomplishment. I can’t perform for her as it’s her skill and her success.

To all the young musicians diligently practicing, experiencing setbacks, anxiety from added tests, sore fingertips, and moms tirelessly transporting you to your lessons, I acknowledge your dedication.

You belong to an exceptional community, one that has chosen the more challenging path. Remember, this marathon is about endurance, not a quick dash. Muso’s Rock stands as our symbol of strength and resilience.

Last March 2023, I too felt a swell of pride when Ava took the stage for her debut official concert alongside Martin Clunes. What a moment to cherish!

The mother, filled with pride, recorded segments of the gifted teenagers’ rehearsals and performances at the Royal Academy of Music, where the 61-year-old actor from Doc Martin was also present.

Myleene praised Ava, stating that she “nailed” her performance and seemed far beyond her years at just 15, as the diligent teen took her advanced piano exam, which is typically taken by those aged 14 to 15, when she was only 12.

She wrote: ‘This weekend, my baby girl at pianos_our_forte gave her initial formal performance for the Royal Academy of Music.’

Over the weekend, the presenter humorously referred to herself as a temporary “mom-manager,” as she ironed her daughter’s dress for the event and accompanied her to practice sessions.

She went on to say: “I took on the role of ‘Momager,’ arranging music, chauffeuring Ava to practices, and even steam-pressing her dress.

She played marvelously on one of the two massive pianos alongside Mia Wepener, Dorset Chamber Orchestra, and Martin Clunes as the narrator. Duncan Honeybourne served as the Music Director for the pianos.

Observing her perform, you might find it hard to believe she’s just 15 years old. Typically, people don’t complete grade 8 until their mid-teens. However, she completed not one but two grades eight at the age of 12, and then earned a diploma.

Myleene stated: ‘She isn’t a nepotism baby. She’s gifted, puts in immense effort, and is extremely committed. Ava bear, no matter what path you take in life or where you end up, we all support you wholeheartedly – your entire cheering section, your family, with your loving mother leading the way.’
