My Talking Tom 2 Plane Builder and Sky Race Guide: Tips and Tricks you need to know

The latest update to My Talking Tom 2 lets players build and customize their own airplane with the new Plane Builder feature. Once their plane is ready, they can test it out in the exciting Sky Race, flying through colorful tracks in the clouds.

There’s a lot to learn, so we’ve explained these two new features in detail. First, we’ll show you how to build and customize a great plane for Tom to race. Then, we’ll share expert advice on racing and, most importantly, how to come out on top!

My Talking Tom 2 Plane Builder and Sky Race: Tips and Tricks explained

1. Build a Plane

To begin building a plane in My Talking Tom 2, tap the plane icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen to go to Tom’s backyard. Then, tap the plane that’s floating behind Tom. He’ll fly to a new screen where you’ll find a hangar and a runway. Tap the hangar to start building your plane!

2. Choose and Design Your Helmet

After you enter the hangar, press the button that highlights Tom’s head. This will open a menu with three options. Select the ‘helmet’ tab to pick a helmet style for Tom. You can try out different helmets by tapping on them, and then customize the color using the paintbrush icon.

The paintbrush section has two rows of options: colors and tools. Simply swipe to see all the available choices. First, select a color, then choose a tool. If you want to draw thin lines or add small details, the pencil tool is a good choice.

The spray can creates a wide burst of color on your helmet. Paint fills in larger areas, while the paintbrush is best for creating thick, noticeable lines and shapes. If you decide you don’t like something, the eraser lets you easily remove the color and start over.

After choosing a color and tool, simply use your finger to paint or remove color on the helmet. Swipe left or right on the arrows below to rotate it and make sure you cover every area. You can also decorate with stickers!

To add stickers, first select the stickers icon. Then, scroll through the different designs by swiping left or right. Once you find a sticker you like, tap and drag it onto the helmet and move it to the perfect spot. Use the slider to change its size, and tap to adjust its placement. When you’re satisfied, tap the checkmark at the top of the screen to save your customized helmet.

3. Select and Design the Body of Your Plane

Designing your plane’s body is similar to designing your helmet. First, pick the overall shape and a basic color scheme. Then, use the paintbrush tool to add custom details and colors – remember to rotate the plane to reach every part!

4. Customize Your Tail and Vapor Trail

If you tap the tail button in the plane hangar, you’ll find a new option: the vapor trail tab. After you’ve customized your plane with a shape, colors, and any stickers you like, tap this tab to choose a vapor trail. If you’re having trouble picking a color, the rainbow trail lets you use them all!

5. Don’t Forget the Wings!

Your plane needs wings to fly! Just like you did with the helmet, body, and tail, tap the wings button to choose, color, and add stickers. If the wings move, that’s perfectly normal!

Just a heads-up: you only need to adjust one wing, and the changes will automatically be mirrored on the other side, ensuring both wings stay symmetrical.

6. Power Up Your Plane

The last button on the plane hangar screen is for power-ups, and it looks like a shield. Tapping it will let you choose from four different boosts. These power-ups are different from everything else you’ve changed so far – they actually affect gameplay!

Power-ups do different things when used in a Sky Race. If you’re unsure which one to choose, you can select a new power-up right before each race begins.

  • Pie Launcher: This launches a pie in front of you. If it hits another racer, then they will spin out of control for a few seconds.
  • Bungee Plunger: Shoot out a plunger on the end of a bungee rope. It attaches to rival planes, pulling them back so that you can get ahead.
  • Afterburners: This gives you a short burst of thrust, making you fly faster for a few valuable seconds.
  • Shield: Protects your plane so that the next time you crash into an obstacle, the shield absorbs the impact and you don’t lose any speed.

7. Enter a Sky Race

To join a Sky Race with your customized plane, tap the runway near the plane hangar. If you’re already inside the hangar, look for the race button in the bottom-right corner. After finishing a race, you can quickly start a new one by tapping the race button on the results screen.

Okay, so after this screen, you get to pick your race. Then, on the next screen, you can customize which power-up you want to use. Once you’ve got everything set up how you like it, just hit the start button and let’s go!

8. How to Win a Sky Race

You’ve learned how to construct a plane and join a Sky Race, so now let’s cover some fast racing tips to help you consistently win and earn the most Flight Tokens!

Keep Your Finger on the Joystick

The joystick on the screen controls both steering and speed. To make your plane go faster, you need to hold onto it. That means keep your finger on the screen even when flying straight!

Use the Power Ups

You’re familiar with how the power-ups work, but you need to grab them while racing! Keep an eye out for the one you want in the middle of the track and fly through it. They’ll activate on their own as soon as you collect them – no button pressing needed.

The Pie Launcher and Bungee Plunger won’t work immediately when you get them if you’re in first place. They’ll only activate once another player passes you.

Hit the Speed Boosts

Besides power-ups, you’ll find speed boosts scattered around the track. They look like glowing yellow circles with arrows, and flying through one gives you a quick burst of speed. These are especially helpful if your plane doesn’t have afterburners.

Avoid the Obstacles

In My Talking Tom 2’s Sky Race, avoiding crashes is the key to winning. If you can stay in the air without crashing, you’ll likely finish first.

Keep an eye out for obstacles like windmills, airships, and chimneys on Races 1, 2, and 4. Race 3 throws in towers and anvils too. No matter what’s in your way, the best advice is simple: steer clear!
