Oh my gosh, Caroline Peaty is just the sweetest! She’s always bragging about her kids – and she totally should be! Every little thing they do, every accomplishment, she’s just bursting with pride, and honestly, it’s adorable. She’s such a proud mama, and I live for it!
Her Instagram is a personal and genuine space where she shares loving photos and messages about her family. Many of her followers enjoy seeing updates about her youngest son, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, but she also frequently posts about her other children – Richard, James, and Bethany – and all of her grandchildren.
A particularly touching post beautifully defines ‘family’ as ‘life’s greatest blessing’ – a group that shares dreams, laughter, and love, and who are always there for each other, through thick and thin. It describes family as the most valuable gift one could receive.
How very different she’s feeling today.
Caroline, 59, has spoken to the Daily Mail about the recent and painful family conflict surrounding her son’s upcoming marriage. Meeting a reporter at a hotel near her hometown of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, she revealed just how much she’s been hurting.
Caroline seems strong on the surface, but she’s actually deeply upset by what’s happened and is crying as she thinks about the future.
She admitted it was over, but desperately wanted Adam to know something important. ‘No matter what happens,’ she said, ‘please remember that I love you, your father loves you, and you’re always welcome to come home and talk to me.’
‘There’s nothing you’ve done that I would not forgive. I love you so much.
Look, I genuinely want them to be happy, I really do. I wish Holly and him all the best, a marriage like his parents had – that’s what I want for them. But honestly? This whole thing… it just needs to stop. I’m saying something because I need it to be over, for everyone’s sake. I just want them to be happy, but this has gone on too long.
She’s referring to the growing conflict and negativity that has resulted in her being excluded from her son’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, daughter of Gordon Ramsay, which is taking place at the historic Bath Abbey on December 27th.

Normally, this day would be a wonderful occasion – a time for families to come together and celebrate.
Adam’s parents, Caroline and Mark, and several other relatives, have been removed from the guest list, and are no longer invited to the Ramsay’s Boxing Day party before Christmas.
They weren’t invited after a major family argument became public this week, sparked by Holly’s elaborate bachelorette party last weekend – an event Caroline wasn’t included in.
The family of 30-year-old Adam is dealing with a painful disagreement at the house in Uttoxeter where he was raised.
Meanwhile, over in the Ramsay camp, it seems battle lines are being drawn.
Caroline understands how much her son’s life has changed, and her family is very worried about the power and influence of the Ramsay family.
Caroline says he’s under Gordon’s control. She feels like they’re separating him from her, and that Gordon’s family is very private and keeps to themselves.
The words she leaves unsaid are that she feels on the outside.
Trouble seemed to begin on Sunday when Gordon Ramsay’s 25-year-old daughter, Holly, posted photos on Instagram from her hen party. The celebration took place at the private Soho Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, and the photos appeared to be carefully chosen.
In one photo, the bride-to-be looks radiant and happy, kneeling in front of her large group of twelve bridesmaids. The group includes her mother, Tana, her mother’s close friend Victoria Beckham, her sisters Megan, who is a police officer, and Tilly, an aspiring chef, as well as her future brother-in-law Adam’s sister, Bethany.
But not Caroline.

Caroline, who used to manage a nursery, was looking after Adam’s five-year-old son, George, while Adam was out. George is from Adam’s previous relationship with artist Eirianedd Munro, which ended in 2022, just nine months after Adam competed on Strictly Come Dancing. Adam met Holly through her sister, Tilly, who he got to know while on the show.
Ugh, it just breaks my heart thinking about it. Apparently, after leaving George with his mum in Birmingham, Caroline completely fell apart. She said it was the absolute worst moment of her life, like she hit rock bottom. I can’t even imagine how she must have felt!
She told me she’d been crying the entire drive home. Once she got back, she confessed to Mark that she’d never felt so hopeless – that it was the first time she hadn’t wanted to go on living.
This experience has really taken a toll on me. I consider myself a resilient person, capable of handling anything, but this has truly left me feeling defeated.

It’s not surprising that Caroline’s sister, Louise Williams, who used to be a lawyer, publicly criticized Holly on Instagram.
She wrote, ‘@hollyramsayy, I’m happy you enjoyed your hen do and deserve a special celebration before your wedding. However, I feel you were unkind and caused pain to someone I care about deeply.’
She finished by saying, ‘You’ve deeply hurt my sister, and it will take a very long time for her to recover, if she ever does.’
It makes you wonder how things could have turned out differently. Caroline shared that she felt instantly comfortable when she first met Holly, right before the Paris Olympics last year.
“We had a wonderful time,” she said. “We both opened up to each other and shared personal things we’ll keep private.” Caroline mentioned she was worried her son was becoming distant from the family.
‘I remember her words “You’ve got him back now, he’ll always be part of your family”.’
Last September, Adam announced he was engaged. Caroline recalls him telling her he’d found the person he wanted to spend his life with, and she was thrilled. “As a mother,” she says, “that’s all you want – to see your children happy and settled down.”
The engagement party, where Holly first revealed her £23,000 yellow diamond ring, hinted at future problems.
Caroline was hurt that her extended family on Adam’s side wasn’t invited to the party, especially since family means so much to her. She messaged Holly, explaining that she’d told the host, ‘You know how important family is to both of us. My sisters haven’t been included, even though they’ve always been there for Adam.’
She wrestled over the wording. It was, she insists, polite, diplomatic.
‘But Adam didn’t take kindly to me sending that message.’
I remember talking to Gordon after the party, and I genuinely told him those messages weren’t a big deal. But honestly, as the event got closer, you could just feel the stress building. It was definitely a tense time!

Adam kindly offered to cover the costs of everything for the groom’s mother – including her dress, shoes, and beauty treatments. He said she’d need four different outfits for the entire wedding, but unfortunately, he didn’t approve of the cream dress Caroline had hoped to wear with navy blue accessories.
‘He told me “Only a bride wears white,” to which I replied, “It’s not white, it’s cream.” ’
She sent the dress back, but decided to keep a gold outfit – a top and bottom set – plus a hat and shoes, which altogether cost £452. She then asked, ‘Do you realize how much effort it took to earn that money? I had to sell things on Vinted.’
Since then the relationship has gone from bad to worse.
Actually, Caroline says she’s hardly had any time with her grandson George, except for last weekend when she watched him while Adam was at his bachelor party in Hungary. Even that event, leading up to the wedding, wasn’t without its problems.
So, I heard this story about Adam returning to Manchester Airport on Sunday. Apparently, he was met by five police officers when he landed! It sounds a bit dramatic, but the word is they were concerned someone might try to attack him, so they were there to ensure his safety.
Police arrested James, a 34-year-old builder, on Tuesday after receiving reports that he had been sending threatening messages to his brother. He was held for questioning for two days and then released on bail with certain conditions.

James had been scheduled to be a groomsman at a wedding, after recently helping his brother with home renovations near his training location in Leicestershire. However, James was reportedly upset by comments made about him in a book, ‘The Gladiator Mindset,’ published in 2021 by the groom, Adam. The book alluded to James struggling with personal issues and suggested his upbringing, with both brothers associating with a negative influence, had caused problems.
He explained that living with their addiction created a lot of stress for everyone in the family.
Adam wrote about Jim watching someone win their first Olympic gold, which motivated him to overcome his struggles with addiction. Now, Jim is a skilled builder and a wonderful father, having successfully left those habits behind. People who know him describe him as a professional, kind, and genuinely warm person.
Following the recent controversy surrounding the bachelor party, Gordon Ramsay’s team quickly stepped in to manage the situation. On Thursday, Jo Milloy, a publicist who previously worked with Victoria Beckham for many years, went to Adam’s home in Kegworth for an emergency meeting, organized by Gordon.
The Ramsays want to control how the story is being told, particularly to avoid perceptions of elitism directed at the Peaty family. They’ve hired the law firm Harbottle and Lewis to try and halt negative publicity targeting them.
Oh my god, I’ve been following this whole thing with Adam and Holly, and it’s just devastating. Someone who knows them both told me it’s genuinely hurting everyone involved. Apparently, Adam feels like his mum, Caroline, isn’t helping things by kind of… covering for his brother instead of making him face up to what he’s done. It’s so sad, honestly! He thinks she’s just letting him get away with stuff instead of pushing him to deal with his problems. I just want them all to fix this!
Caroline believes Adam and Holly are both determined to stand their ground. She adds that Adam is stubborn and doesn’t apologize easily, as he tends to see things in very clear, uncompromising terms.
This, she says, is part of what makes him the champion sportsman he is, his laser focus.
However, the stress has also created some tension between Caroline and her daughter, Bethany, who attended Holly’s pre-wedding celebration.

According to a family insider, Bethany is now supporting her brother and his famous new in-laws.
It’s hard to picture a more upsetting family conflict, especially considering how close and supportive the Peaty family was when Adam won his first Olympic gold medal in 2016. The current situation is particularly painful because of that previous unity.
It was Caroline who made so many sacrifices to get her son to the Olympic starting block.
Since Mark, Adam’s father, doesn’t drive, Caroline took on the responsibility of driving Adam to training every morning. She’d wake up at 4am to make the trip from Uttoxeter to Derby, wait for two hours while he trained, and then drive him home before starting her full day as a nursery manager. She also did the same round trip for evening training sessions.
She’s deeply embarrassed by suggestions from some people that she expects to be compensated for all the sacrifices she made to support Adam’s swimming when he was young.
She firmly states she hadn’t given it another thought. She explains her actions were simply because he’s her son, and that was her only reason.
for any other reward than to see my son happy.’
With the wedding fast approaching, it is beginning to look like it will be a Ramsay-heavy affair.
Adam says he found peace after his relationship with Eirianedd ended – she’s still friendly with the Peaty family – and following a difficult emotional period, thanks to his fiancée and his Christian beliefs.
He’s clearly made a strong connection with his future in-laws. In an interview last summer, he praised Gordon, saying he motivates him to achieve his goals. He also described the rest of the family as incredibly supportive, welcoming, and loving, noting that their values align with his own.
That, however, does not appear to have extended to bringing the two families together.
Holly, similar to Adam, has been open about her own mental health challenges. She’s only visited Adam’s family home a handful of times.
Caroline was warm and welcoming towards Holly, and wished her a happy birthday on Instagram.
We’re so excited for the year ahead and officially welcoming you to the team! We’ve already had some great experiences together, and we’re looking forward to many more.
‘Holly completes you,’ she said on a post celebrating Adam’s 30th birthday.
The wedding is just six weeks away. Caroline doesn’t think Adam will change his mind, but she’s still getting them a gift – a nice one, she says – chosen from their wedding registry.
She will send a card, too. But she adds: ‘I don’t know if they will even open it.’
With a touch of sadness, she explained that she would go if he were to change his mind. She really wanted to visit Bath and witness his wedding at the abbey.
‘I love him, he’s still my little boy.’
Caroline Peaty didn’t receive any payment for this interview. Instead, she requested that the Daily Mail donate to two charities: 4Louis, which supports families who have lost a baby or child (4louis.co.uk), and Yess, a mental health charity in her hometown that her husband, Adam, supports (yess.uk).
