My revenge when I found out my footballer boyfriend had cheated on me... and the truth about why I then married him anyway: Love Island star OLIVIA ATTWOOD reveals all

As I delve into the world of Olivia Attwood’s Bad Boyfriends, I find myself captivated by her journey from a shy schoolgirl to a fearless TV presenter. Her transformation is as inspiring as it is relatable, and her ability to turn fear into fuel is truly admirable.

As an elegantly styled Olivia Attwood confidently entered the renowned Love Island villa, her primary goal was clear: seeking retribution. Her footballer beau, Bradley Dack, had betrayed her trust by cheating, and she aimed to make him feel remorse for ruining their romance.

And, with her skimpy bikinis and sassy personality, it was mission accomplished.

Beyond this, her distinctive look played a role in an unforeseen reunion with the then-star of Blackburn Rovers, Bradley, and they have since tied the knot. Moreover, her stint on Love Island has propelled her into a successful television hosting career.

Currently, 33-year-old Olivia, drawing from her personal romantic encounters, is initiating a reality show on ITV titled “Bad Boyfriends.”

Upon the requests of eight patient girlfriends, the aim of this show is to change their partners – a group consisting of unfaithful men, fearful of commitment, and immature adults – into more devoted and mature boyfriends.

In 2017, during the third season of Love Island, Olivia – known for her sharp intellect and frankness – explains her reasons for joining the show. She states, ‘I aimed to retaliate against my ex-boyfriend Bradley, who had wronged me, and it proved successful. Since then, I’ve been inundated with messages from women seeking relationship guidance.’ Olivia, boasting 2.2 million followers on Instagram, is the one dishing out advice now.

Many females believe I always know the solutions to every issue. However, I don’t claim to possess these answers – I simply speak openly. Yet, discussing relationships with individuals, particularly younger women, and sharing my own mistakes, is something I genuinely enjoy.

It’s interesting to note that Olivia declined the opportunity to be part of the second season of Love Island due to another individual who had been unfaithful in a relationship.

She reminisces, “I had planned to return for the villa during season two, but I chose a man instead, who unfortunately proved unfaithful. Initially, I declined season three as well – that is, until I learned Brad was seeing his former girlfriend. At that point, I thought: ‘Oh my goodness, this can’t be happening to me again! What on earth am I doing here?'”

Anyone who has experienced infidelity can attest to how truly awful it feels. At that time, Brad and I hadn’t yet been introduced to each other’s families as we were in a relationship. The revelation left me profoundly stunned.

In the year 2017, Olivia was about to debut as a trackside model at a Formula 1 Grand Prix event, when an anonymous call came in, with a distressed female voice identifying herself as Bradley’s partner.

Olivia shared that the phone call she received will be etched in her memory forever due to its extreme emotional impact, making it feel like a chilling out-of-body experience. Upon hearing this, your mind begins to frantically piece together the details, questioning things like “What happened? Where did it occur? When did it take place?” Your thoughts quickly spiral into overdrive.

The following day, I found myself on the F1 track, radiating beauty that seemed to leave everyone in awe, yet inside, I was filled with tears, feeling unattractive and questioning: ‘Why do I constantly experience betrayal? I can’t even find someone faithful.’

Experiencing that awful sensation wasn’t pleasant, but it sparked a realization within me – I couldn’t afford to let another chance at Love Island slip away. Fortunately, they were still interested in having me.

In the television program, Olivia encountered host Chris Hughes. They had a relationship for approximately half a year before Olivia reunited with Bradley in 2018, and they tied the knot the subsequent year.

Olivia recollects, ‘When I appeared on the program, I aimed to leave all my past behind.’ In my thoughts, there was no Brad post Love Island for me. I entered with a significant amount of fury. I was furious with men and extremely quick-tempered – like a cat walking on a hot roof. It makes for excellent television. But it would take much more to provoke me now.

‘Chris and I had a longer-than-usual attempt at a relationship, but ultimately realized that our backgrounds were too dissimilar. When the show ended, there was a unique nostalgia that only the two of us could understand. However, in reality, we simply weren’t destined to be together.’

But her reunion with Bradley wasn’t all champagne and roses.

Olivia confessed, ‘Our relationship was bumpy at first.’ She strives to be truthful as people may assume that we rekindled our romance following Love Island, creating a romantic tale. However, this wasn’t the case. The initial six months of dating were rather unstable due to both of us being cautious. I was still finding my footing after Love Island; he was adjusting to a new football club. We were essentially getting reacquainted with each other.’

Trust isn’t automatically given; it must be earned through consistent actions. People do have the capacity to change, often influenced by their level of motivation. Actions speak louder than words, so demonstrating commitment is crucial. We’d start with basic steps, experience some minor setbacks along the way, and then eventually establish a strong foundation.

Next up is the series titled “Bad Boyfriends,” where eight unassuming gentlemen are whisked away to a beautiful Greek island, under the assumption that they will be participating in a reality show centered around masculinity and camaraderie in a tropical paradise of indulgence.

When Olivia, alongside her famous friend Pete Wicks, learns that the purpose of the show is to help them improve as boyfriends, they are taken aback. However, when their patient partners enter the scene, both Olivia’s and Pete’s expressions change to one of embarrassment and shame.

Even so, Olivia has her work cut out attempting to reform the wayward bunch.

There’s Viktor who’s been with his partner Maria for six years but doesn’t want to get married. Ruben’s girlfriend Liily describes him as ‘a lover boy…way too flirty’. Eli has ‘a bad reputation with women’, says his partner Anna (‘Most girls I meet around my age have slept with him,’ she adds). And Ryan’s girlfriend Sapphia says: ‘I am his mother: I set his alarms for him, I check his calendar. He’s very flirty. I feel like he likes people fancying him.’

According to Olivia, she deeply empathized with the women. They seemed to feel secure and confident in her presence, knowing there was no judgment. She would often say, “Darling, I’ve walked that path myself. I understand.”

The women collaborate on assignments aimed at unmasking their partners’ questionable actions. To begin with, they set up a trial of temptation where these men, during social outings, encounter a sequence of decoy situations orchestrated by their girlfriends, who remain disguised.

In this situation, the girls are deeply affected by the outcomes, and prior to facing the boys, Olivia admits: ‘I’ve got more courage than a large supermarket, but even I’m feeling a bit jittery. Some might be experiencing some regret. The last thing they’ll want to encounter is their girlfriend standing before them. Not only will they recognize their girlfriend, but they’ll also identify the other undercover girlfriends who were flirting with them.’

Over the course of 11 episodes, brace yourself for some challenging guidance, as individuals who fail to improve will be eliminated through viewer votes.

In this show, there’s a common experience that resonates with everyone. Many of the couples featured are at a critical point, where their actions could make or break their relationships. The focus is on revealing the harmful behavior of the boyfriends, as they often fail to recognize the pain they cause. Olivia explains, ‘See your beloved one crying. This is the impact it has on her.’ It serves as a powerful reminder. If the boyfriend doesn’t respond, then you know where things stand.

Olivia stated that the process was prolonged as many of the guys were instinctively inclined to say what they believed their partners desired to hear, rather than admitting the truth upfront – a tactic she referred to as ‘deny until you die.’ She added that women are intelligent and can sense when information is being withheld, which can lead to tension. Olivia also mentioned that she knows when Brad hides something from her, but emphasized the importance of patience because eventually, the truth will be revealed by the person.

Yet, she maintains that while she isn’t a professional therapist, she has often found herself playing the therapist role among her friends and family during their conversations.

As the eldest child, I’m often the go-to person when issues arise, and I usually take on the role of mediator to resolve conflicts. This experience has taught me that no matter what challenges life throws at you, having someone who cares deeply for you can help you overcome anything.

It’s astonishing to think that the woman with a CV boasting stints on TOWIE, Celebs Go Dating, the series Getting Filthy Rich, frequent appearances on Loose Women, and her own podcast, So Wrong It’s Right, was once a timid schoolgirl in London.

She admits that her self-assurance didn’t develop until later in life. As a youngster, she was often filled with apprehension, she explains. Due to her Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), she found herself acting on impulses frequently. However, she was a bundle of nerves. Following her school years, she spent numerous years attempting to minimize her world, reducing anything that might cause anxiety.

In the past, I had a relationship with a man and cohabited with him. However, I found myself constantly minimizing my experiences due to various fears. Here’s what I was thinking: “I have an intense fear of elevators. I feel uneasy around raw poultry. I don’t feel well. I’m apprehensive about flying.” As a result, I started declining modeling opportunities because I didn’t want to venture too far from home.

One night, I made a decision: “It’s time to move on. Starting tomorrow, I will do something that pushes me out of my comfort zone every day, or else I’ll be trapped with this unpleasant roommate in this apartment forever.” It was at this point that I began breaking down the doors.

And through those doors came the sassy and sincere TV presenter she is today.
