‘My Lady Jane’ Star Devastated by Prime Video’s Sudden Cancellation
Some viewers are still upset with the streaming service for cancelling another fantasy show last year, even as others struggle to cope with the current situation. One of the standout shows, featuring a Tudor queen and mythical creatures, was among the best, but unfortunately, it didn’t survive beyond its first season despite positive reviews. Now, actor Edward Bluemel has finally spoken out about the heartbreaking cancellation.
As a passionate movie critic, I recently sat down with Collider to discuss my latest role in Washington Black, and during our conversation, I couldn’t help but reflect on the untimely end of The Crouching Queen. This captivating series, which reimagined Tudor history like no other, boasted a stellar cast, including Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey, with me playing her husband, Lord Guildford Dudley. I firmly believe that this extraordinary premise deserved so much more recognition and acclaim than it ultimately received.
The unique tone of it captured me, and I found its storytelling method truly exceptional. I’m deeply disappointed that it ended, as I wished for more. I believe everyone else would have felt the same way. I’m overjoyed for all those who adored it so fervently and passionate fans because their enthusiasm validates what we initially sensed: ‘This is an extraordinary series.’ I’m thrilled that many seem to share this sentiment with me.
As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my disappointment over the unexpected cancellation of “My Lady Jane.” This captivating series, which left critics spellbound with a remarkable 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an impressive 91% rating from audiences on the Popcornmeter, had all the makings of a long-running success. The shockwaves were felt far and wide when the news broke that the show was being discontinued. Among those left in disbelief were the dedicated team behind the scenes who had already commenced work on Season 2. As I reflect on this turn of events, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of loss for what could have been.
They composed parts of the script and constructed some sets for it. The project almost came to fruition, but at the last minute, things fell apart. I’m hazy on the specifics, but I recall a shipwreck being involved. There was mention of a shipwreck, and I was supposed to be part of that shipwreck in some way, though the details are fuzzy. It sounded like it would have been an exhilarating, entertaining, and ultimately raunchy and absurd experience, just as My Lady Jane promises.
‘My Lady Jane’ Is One of Many Canceled Prime Video Shows
Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video has seen a notable increase in show cancellations during 2025. In contrast to the numerous series it ended in 2024 – such as American Rust, Outer Range, and Daisy Jones & the Six – it appears that the number of shows being terminated this year is even higher, with approximately 15 titles either concluded or scheduled to conclude in 2025. Among these are two spinoffs of Citadel, Cruel Intentions, Etoile, and Bosch: Legacy.
Instead of some series concluding organically, today’s television landscape requires a show to generate impressive viewership right from its debut if there’s any hope for renewal. As fresh shows keep popping up, viewers are frequently torn about investing their time in a potentially canceled series that could end on an unresolved cliffhanger.
