My Kitchen Rules fans slam show over food prep shocker: ‘That’s basic hygiene’

Fans of My Kitchen Rules have criticized Seven’s popular show following an incident where viewers noticed potential breaches in cleanliness during Tuesday’s broadcast.

The cooking show faced criticism on social media when Anne and Maree were observed preparing a meal while their hair was let loose.

Fans were also worried that the mother and daughter duo were seen handling food without gloves.

‘Both ladies should tie their hair up, too risky,’ a user on a MKR Facebook thread said.

Maintaining good cleanliness while preparing meals for visitors is important, and it will certainly be less appealing to your guests if they discover a strand of hair in their food.

‘A third fan added, ‘Can’t understand why their hair is not tied up!’

The ladies were similarly asked about their methods for cooking the ‘Classic Greek’ dish, which includes Chicken and Lamb Souvlakia served with Pita bread and Tzatziki sauce.

While serving the salad, it’s recommended to use gloves, as suggested by a Facebook user. Another user also commented, ‘Perhaps they don’t have tongs to serve the salad.’

It wasn’t just Anne and Maree who faced criticism for cleanliness during MasterChef Australia; Justin and Will likewise drew negative comments about their culinary practices on Monday as well.

‘The boys also wore rings when kneading their dough and cooking,’ a fan said on the same thread.

Daily Mail has reached out to Channel Seven for comment.

Last year’s MKR competitor, Maddie Deveraux, recently shared her thoughts about the hygiene standards on the show with Yahoo Lifestyle.

She shared with the media outlet on Wednesday that it’s common for people to overlook the fact that Masterchef Australia isn’t just about food, but also encompasses fashion, drama, and character as well.

When preparing meals at home during the competition, it’s entirely your choice to style your hair either up or down – it’s all about personal comfort and what the production team accepts as suitable.

Within Kitchen HQ, things are different – it’s necessary to tie back your hair at all times for reasons of cleanliness.

Following his debut on My Kitchen Rules, celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge received an unusually modest paycheck for the program.

51-year-old Irish-origin culinary expert shared that he received a salary of only $40,000 during his participation in the fourth season of My Kitchen Rules back in 2013.

In 2013, a full-time worker (working approximately 38 hours a week) made a minimum wage of $622.20 per week, equating to roughly $32,354 annually. This figure is only slightly lower than the amount Colin was earning.

During September, a contestant from the 2024 season, who chose to remain anonymous, disclosed to Daily Mail Australia that aspiring television chefs were earning approximately $1100 weekly, which was just slightly above minimum wage.

The Australian minimum wage is currently $24.10 per hour, or $915.90 per week based on 38 hours.

As a die-hard devotee, I’d confess: Participating in this reality TV series implied a significant reduction in earnings for several of us, with one colleague falling into debt post-filming due to the financial strain.
