As a seasoned lifestyle expert with years of experience observing and analyzing various forms of entertainment, I must admit that the latest season of My Kitchen Rules has left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed – to put it mildly. Having watched countless cooking shows throughout my career, I’ve come to appreciate the authenticity and passion that true culinary artists bring to their craft.

My Kitchen Rules is back on television screens for a new season in 2024.

The series launch has been rocky for certain audiences, with some expressing dissatisfaction due to the perceived scripted nature of the content.

On Monday, Danny and his sister Sonia, hailing from the city of Townsville, transformed their venue into a pub-style Instant Restaurant named “The Broasis.

The food they prepared didn’t stand out, earning them a low score of 56/110, which put them at the very bottom in the MasterChef Australia rankings.

As a starter, they offered Townsville mud crabs paired with a zesty mango-chilli dip. For the main course, it was tender filet mignon, adorned with garlic shrimp and served with beer-battered wedges and a crispy bacon broccoli salad.

The outcome was disastrous when Danny chose not to heed Judge Colin Fassnidge’s guidance, instead placing the costly piece of meat straight into the oven without first searing it.

When presented with the steak, Judge Manu Fieldel commented, ‘It feels like I’ve got a soggy piece of paper on my platter.’

Colin agreed: ‘You tried to give us too much and it backfired.’

Additional problems occurred as their espresso martini trifle dessert failed to solidify, placing them near the bottom of the rankings and potentially leading to their disqualification.

Danny was ‘absolutely gutted,’ believing he let Sonia down, but Sonia disagreed.

‘He didn’t need to come here (on MKR) with me, and he did. That will forever matter’ she said.

viewer’s feedback at home indicated that they weren’t particularly fond of the show, expressing their opinions about X.

I’m really tired of those fake contestants speaking to the camera, probably knowing that it’s recorded later, which seems so pointless.

Could it be that I’ve ended up in the wrong television program? This appears to be a staged version of “Married at First Sight,” disguised as a culinary show, some viewers have commented.

One more wrote: ‘I was really hoping the reboot of this show would not include having good guys and bad guys. It’s so scripted and fake. Take a lesson from MasterChef and just cook’.

One individual commented: ‘Suddenly, they’re discussing the steak’s crust. It’s just scripted nonsense.’ Another chimed in, saying, ‘I find this incredibly dull; I can’t even stand it.’

MKR has had some teething issues since its return to television screens in recent years.

By September 2023, only 470,000 viewers from major cities tuned in for the 13th season debut of the cooking competition.

Last night, MKR didn’t make it into the top ten most-viewed shows, which is quite different from its peak years ago, where it consistently attracted more than a million viewers per episode.

MKR returned to Channel Seven in 2022, two years after it was axed.

Debuting to just 500,000 viewers, the show has continued to shed fans in the metro centres.

Channel Seven axed My Kitchen Rules: The Rivals from Sunday night’s programming back in 2020.

2020 saw discussions among Seven executives about potentially cancelling the show due to its ratings hitting an all-time low and becoming unsustainable.

According to a trusted source, the magazine learned that ‘MKR might not be secure anymore. Certain influential figures are advocating strongly to permanently cancel the show.’

However, it returned in 2022, but has continued to struggle in the ratings.

MKR continues 7.30pm Tuesday on Channel 7 and 7plus
