If you’re searching for a fresh TV show to really get invested in, the series “Ballard” on Prime Video is winning over both viewers and critics.
The crime drama made its debut on the streaming platform earlier this month, swiftly ascending to the peak positions in the UK streaming rankings.
At the moment, Ballard stands as the top show in the UK. It’s essentially a spin-off from the police procedural series Bosch and its sequel, Bosch: Legacy.
Maggie Q plays the lead role as Detective Renee Ballard in “Designated Survivor,” where she takes command of the LAPD’s newly formed cold case squad, tasked with resolving old cases spanning over several decades, such as a notorious serial killer.
In the course of investigating old, unsolved crimes, Ballard stumbles upon a secretive plot within the Los Angeles Police Department. Recognizing the need for assistance, she reaches out to Harry Bosch (portrayed by Titus Welliver).
A tenacious detective faces her personal struggles, simultaneously outsmarting wrongdoers and peers, in a relentless pursuit of delayed justice for not only the victims but also their grieving families.
The show was developed by both Michael Alaimo and Michael Connelly, the writer famed for creating the character Harry Bosch and his expansive fictional world.

Ballard currently holds a very impressive 100% Fresh rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes.
