The raw and unadorned crime series from the mind behind “Mare of Easttown” has officially set its premiere date.
In the role of a seasoned FBI agent from Philadelphia, Mark Ruffalo stars in “Task,” a new series led by Brad Ingelsby, the mastermind behind “Mare of Easttown” featuring Kate Winslet.)
Today, the new show from HBO was unveiled, featuring Mark Ruffalo as Tom Brandis. In this trailer, he is summoned by his boss, Kathleen McGinty, played by Martha Plimpton.
She requires him to return and be active again to aid in halting a string of armed robberies that have been troubling the suburbs of Philadelphia. The head of the criminal group is unexpectedly Robbie Prendergrast, portrayed by Tom Pelphrey from Ozark.
The upcoming series titled Task is scheduled to debut on HBO in the United States on the 7th of September. In the UK, the series will be aired on Sky and NOW sometime in September, with the specific date still undisclosed. Consisting of seven episodes, the show’s final episode will air on HBO in the US on October 19th.
The star-studded lineup includes Matt Ruffalo along with Alison Oliver from “Saltburn,” Thuso Mbedu from “The Woman King,” and Fabien Frankel known for his role in “House of the Dragon.” They play characters named Lizzie, Aleah, and Anthony respectively.
In this scenario, a group of three is ultimately part of the team spearheaded by Tom, originally overlooking them because of their youth and lack of extensive experience.
In the trailer, Tom says to Kathleen, “My experience isn’t extensive, perhaps.” However, it’s evident that whatever internal struggles he faces during this investigation, he can’t handle them by himself.
The roles are completed with Emilia Jones playing Maeve, Raúl Castillo portraying Cliff, Jamie McShane as Perry, and Sam Keeley as Jayson, among others.
As a gaming aficionado diving into the world of TV shows, I recently got some intriguing insights about an upcoming series. The talented creator, Ingelsby, shared that his captivating limited show, rooted in his hometown Philadelphia, drew inspiration from his own family history. Specifically, it was his uncle – a former priest who chose love over the church and left for a woman – that played a significant role in shaping this intriguing narrative.
In a conversation with Vanity Fair, he shared that due to their strong bond, he frequently seeks his uncle’s advice, which significantly influenced the creation of the character of Tom, the former priest.
1. What caused him to depart or stop being there?
2. What is his current connection or bond with God?
3. Has this relationship with God been influenced by any changes or developments throughout time?
I found the character intriguing – a man whose beliefs are tested by the happenings in his life. We wonder how he copes and reacts to these situations.
If Task even comes close to matching the quality of Ingelsby’s acclaimed limited series, “Mare of Easttown,” which was praised as “exceptional” by Film Cred, then it’s a show definitely worth keeping on your radar.
Task will air on HBO in the US from 7 September. In the UK, the series airs on Sky and NOW.
