Must see! Claire Foy’s “powerful” drama with a “remarkable” cast gets new UK streaming home

Claire Foy’s drama Women Talking has found itself a new UK streaming home.

Starting today, you can stream the 2022 film that was broadcasted on BBC Two last night, right here on BBC iPlayer. However, please note that, similar to other BBC films, it will only be available for a limited period (with 29 days remaining at the time of this writing).

The movie traces a community of women living in seclusion within a religious enclave, where they uncover a disturbing truth regarding their treatment at the hands of the male counterparts.

They have two options before them: flee and attempt to forget, or remain and strive to prevent such occurrences from happening to others in the future.

In addition to Claire Foy, who stars in The Crown, the movie also includes Jessie Buckley from Wicked Little Letters, Rooney Mara known for her role in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, James Bond’s Ben Whishaw, Judith Ivey from New Amsterdam, and Frances McDormand famed for her work in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

As a gamer diving into a captivating movie experience, I can’t help but share my excitement about “Women Talking.” This film has garnered an impressive 90% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 299 reviews! The consensus is that the performances delivered by the cast are nothing short of extraordinary.

The review in The Spectator describes it as both captivating and intense, akin to a thriller. On the other hand, Empire magazine praises it as a skillfully crafted, timely production that signals the return of director Sarah Polley as a visionary and meticulous filmmaker, backed by an exceptional cast.

According to The Guardian, the presentation feels slightly dramatic and wordy, more telling emotions like anger and fear instead of conveying them, and it maintains a composed approach when tackling moral dilemmas.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Foy expressed about the project: “This is the role I’ve been unknowingly longing for all along.

Undoubtedly, if I’ve been eagerly anticipating it, as an actor, there must be others – women, girls, and men alike – who share that excitement. They yearn for this particular story to come to fruition, not relegated or minimized in any way.

Women Talking is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is available now! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
