Mum’s the Word: Katherine Ryan’s Daughter Exposes Her Embarrassing Moments

Katherine Ryan found herself blushing when her daughter, Violet, posted several amusing videos of her on TikTok, as part of a popular trend.

41-year-old comedian expressed embarrassment when a 14-year-old shared a funny collection of videos showing her dance, twerk, and struggle getting out of her car, all set to the tune of “Ordinary Girl” by Hannah Montana.

Beneath the phrase ‘Emergency Contact’, TikTok captured Katherine performing various moves, such as shaking her derriere for the camera, and gracefully practicing ballet in her home, even executing a spin or twirl (pirouette).

She was spotted exiting her compact parking spot wearing a pink velour tracksuit reminiscent of Amy Poehler’s ‘cool mom’ character from Mean Girls. Upon leaving, she danced energetically with a video camera in hand.

Expressing gratitude for her mom while playfully teasing her, Violet titled the video: “I wouldn’t change it for anything else.

A popular trend involves individuals posting videos of their emergency contacts acting foolishly or impulsively, humorously highlighting their reliance on these people during emergencies. These clips often go viral, even catching the attention of celebrities like Will Ferrell’s son.

Spectators found themselves roaring with laughter after watching Violet’s video. It swiftly accumulated 45,000 likes, attracting numerous comments such as “I adore your mom”, “I’m dying, I love her”, and “She’s a legend”.

‘I’m peeing myself; ‘Can she be my emergency contact?’; ‘Ahhhh she’s the best!’; She’s an icon ❤️’.

Instead, Katherine demonstrated a lack of amusement by responding in her own words, expressing her discomfort with the comment: ‘OH MY HEAVENS VIOLA!’

While her cheeky teenage daughter simply wrote back: ‘U like?’

On more than one occasion, it’s been noticed that Violet seems to have taken after her mom in terms of having a humorous disposition. Often, Katherine posts Violet’s witty, self-deprecating humor online.

In the previous year, she posted an Instagram video endorsing her friend’s lingerie label, modeling a delicate pink lace bra, and disclosed that her daughter had offered some blunt guidance.

Violet informed her audience that since there’s no reason to boast, they shouldn’t expect to see a particular bra shared by her, trying hard not to giggle.

Last year, she shared a witty remark that Violet made during her 40th birthday celebration, which read: “You’re beginning to expire.” A big thank you goes out to my daughter, Violet, for explaining why I often feel exhausted.

At age 12, this teenager had already stepped onto the stage during one of Katherine’s comedy performances in 2022, aiming to diffuse a heated argument among intoxicated spectators.

Following Katherine’s demonstration of their strong bond, it became evident how fortunate Violet is to have her as her mother, once she disclosed the great efforts she made to secure Taylor Swift concert tickets for her daughter.

While countless enthusiastic spectators endured lengthy queues at Wembley Stadium to secure coveted tickets, Katherine enlisted her previous midwife to join the line as early as 4 am, allowing Violet to remain in their hotel.

During a recent premiere of her new television series, “At Home with Katherine Ryan,” held at the luxurious Soho Hotel this month, the renowned comedian defended her extravagant style without reservation.

She joked: “I aim to offer a top-notch experience to everyone in my life. I’m simply searching for a solution to a glaring issue. It’s as if I’ve found penicillin! In essence, I’m like Marie Curie when it comes to organizing Taylor Swift concerts!

At the age of 25, Katherine took on the role of a mother to her daughter Violet, who she raised as a single parent. Later, she rekindled an old flame with Bobby Kootstra, leading to the birth of their two children, Fred, aged 3, and Fenna, who is 2 years old.

Although she maintains that single motherhood was never challenging for her, Katherine confessed that she currently struggles to establish limits with her oldest child.

Prior to Bobby joining us, our existence resembled a peaceful democracy, and we felt more like close sisters,” she elaborated.

For over ten years, Violet and I lived an amazing life filled with countless adventures. I’d love to continue this way of living. However, the past five years have brought significant changes into her life.

It’s hard for me to refuse her requests, I find myself resisting it. I can’t quite grasp the reason why I should deny her – I continue to wrestle with that thought.

And the approach has led to one particularly unexpected purchase.

In the second installment of “At Home with Katherine Ryan,” spectators will witness Violet making numerous requests for a pet cat, but her pleas continue to fall on deaf ears.

However, even though Katherine held strong against the idea, Violet acted independently – she went ahead and ordered a cat online, then brought it home on her own.

During the Q&A session, Katherine confessed that it wasn’t typical for a fifteen-year-old to purchase a cat on their own, but in this case, that’s exactly what transpired. We ended up keeping the cat.

Within that very episode, the character known for her swift intelligence found herself overcome with emotion as she disclosed the reasons behind her difficulty in refusing requests from her daughter.

At a deeply feeling instant, she admitted: “I don’t want her to depart without saying goodbye. I myself had to depart quite early, and I understand that people can easily move on.

The humorist, who’s lavished affection and riches on Violet over many years, also admitted to pondering if his daughter might harbor resentment towards him for remarrying and expanding their family.

She shared that in the past, she would simply grant her wishes without hesitation. However, if it bothers her that I got married and had more children, she expressed a desire for everyone to be content with what they have, and her voice trembled as she spoke.

Additionally, she confessed experiencing feelings of “mother’s work guilt,” acknowledging that she believes Violet benefited from the best possible version of her as a parent.

She admitted that she spends less time with Fenna and Fred compared to how much she used to spend with Violet, and she feels remorseful about this.

‘In a way, Violet got a better mother than Fenna and Fred are getting. I’m around a lot less.’

But if there’s one area where the comedian has put her foot down, it’s social media.

In this show, Katherine and Bobby struggle with Violet’s intense preoccupation with social media, as she spends more than ten hours daily on apps such as TikTok.

The mother of three admitted that she’s constantly worried about Violet. For over ten years, she’s managed to keep Violet away from social media. Interestingly, both Bobby and she share Violet’s passwords.

‘And we do take it at night and we could spot-check it at any time and she knows that.’

It comes after Violet posted a Christmas present haul from her mother worth £3,000 on TikTok.

Her account has over 38,000 followers and 4.6million likes.

In the video, Violet enthusiastically reveals high-end merchandise such as three Ralph Lauren polo sweaters valued at £165 apiece, a Gucci pink scarf retailing for £335, and a Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk makeup collection priced at £46.

Additionally, there was a compact Kodak camera modeled as a Mini Shot (valued at £122), assorted Lululemon merchandise that added up to hundreds of pounds, and a Ninja Slushi machine priced at around £300.

At some point, the teenager displayed a sweater with the words ‘Favorite Daughter’ on it while chuckling, saying, “My mom claims she treats all her favorite kids equally – except for the initial one, whom she adores above everyone else, and that’s me!

In a humble manner, Violet expressed her deep gratitude for the gifts she received in the video she posted on TikTok. She hopes people won’t tease her about it.
