Much-loved noughties show branded “epitome of episodic television” lands new UK streaming home

Beloved noughties medical drama House has found a new streaming home in the UK and Ireland.

As a devoted viewer, I’m captivated by the gripping American drama that stars the talented Hugh Laurie. This series revolves around a character who, much like myself in certain situations, harbors an innate disdain for people and has a knack for defying rules. However, the similarities end there as this protagonist grapples with a profound struggle – an addiction that weighs heavily on him.

Starting Tuesday, April 1st, you’ll find the show streaming on both Prime Video and Netflix, accessible for Netflix subscribers.

The television series titled “House” or “House, M.D.” spanned over eight seasons from 2004 to 2012. During this period, it accumulated a significant amount of positive reviews and accolades, such as two Golden Globes and five Primetime Emmy awards.

In summary, the series boasts an impressive 89% positive critique score on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics have praised it as the pinnacle of episodic television, commending its consistently high-quality production and captivating performance delivered by the main actor, which they find fascinating to watch.

In the past, our team at Digital Spy listed and highly recommended the top 13 standout episodes from the series. Keep in mind that these rankings contain significant plot details, so if you haven’t watched the show, beware of potential spoilers.

As the series was set to conclude after its eighth season, Laurie shared his perspective that the core conflict of the character’s story, inherently, might eventually become less engaging for viewers.

He expressed that I, along with many others, believed it was best for us to pack up and quietly leave during the night while the tension hadn’t subsided, as he put it.

Recently, Netflix has expanded its drama collection with a few captivating titles featuring well-known British actors. Among them, I’ve been particularly drawn to Joanne Froggatt and Maxine Peake’s chilling true-crime series, “See No Evil: The Moors Murders,” and Vicky McClure’s intense psychological thriller, “The Replacement.” These gripping narratives have certainly kept me on the edge of my seat!

All eight seasons of House are on Prime Video, and will be on Netflix from April 1.
