MTV Video Music Awards 2024: Final round of performers announced weeks ahead of broadcast
As a dedicated follower of music and pop culture events for over two decades, I must say this year’s MTV Video Music Awards lineup is nothing short of spectacular! From the electrifying performances of veterans like LL Cool J and Anitta to the fresh talent of Shawn Mendes and Karol G, it promises to be a night filled with energy, excitement, and unforgettable moments.
The MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast on September 11th, and the last group of artists scheduled to perform have been announced.
Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J and Shawn Mendes have been added to the show as performers.
The show is set to air live from UBS Arena in New York on Wednesday, September 11 at 8 pm ET/PT.
Previously graced the VMA stage for the past two years, Anitta is set to make a comeback performing a mix of her hits.

The musician is all prepared to perform Savage Funk, Alegria, and introduce her new track Paradise, featuring guest stars DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, and Taigo PZK.
Karol G – who also previously performed at the VMAs, is set to hit the stage.
LL Cool J is scheduled to hit the stage – over 25 years since his last performance at the VMAs.
Shawn Mendes is preparing to take the stage as well, marking his initial performance before the release of his upcoming album in October.
Previously announced acts also feature Sabrina Carpenter, Katy Perry, Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Benson Boone, Halsey, Blackpink’s LISA, and Lenny Kravitz.
Megan Thee Stallion is set to host the show.

Katy will receive the Video Vanguard Award.
In a statement as reported by AP, Bruce Gillmer, the head of music content for Paramount+ and president of music, talent, programming, and events at Paramount, praised Katy as a formidable musical force and a significant figure in pop culture.
In my professional opinion, she’s revolutionized creativity and established herself as a worldwide sensation, gracing the grandest stages across the globe, according to Gillmer.
Taylor Swift led the nominations for the MTV VMAs 2024 with a very impressive 10 nods.
As a devoted admirer, I find myself on the brink of making history. At 34 years old, this gifted artist stands poised to achieve an unprecedented feat – becoming the very first artist to win the prestigious Video Of The Year award three times in a row.
If it weren’t anything else, she would be breaking a tie for the fifth time, as she currently holds the record for the most wins in that particular category.
This year she is nominated for her collaboration with Post Malone titled Fortnight.
29-year-old artist Austin Richard Post, known for his rapping and singing, is only one nomination behind Taylor in the total count, with nine nominations mostly stemming from their collaborative efforts.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the one recognition he received all by himself – the Best Collaboration nomination for our joint effort on “I Had Some Help” with Morgan Wallen. What an incredible moment that was!
Not too far behind the leaders were Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, and Eminem who have six each.
SZA and Megan Thee Stallion have been recognized with multiple Moonperson nominations, as they’ve been put forward in no less than five different categories.
Tied with four nods each were Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims, and Blackpink member Lisa.
Finally Benson Boone, Anitta, Dua Lipa, Tyla, Bleachers, and GloRilla all have four nominations.
