During NYCxDesign Week 2025, an art collective based in Brooklyn named MSCHF is collaborating with Mercedes-AMG to unveil a daring collection of furniture. This collaboration rethinks automotive performance components as innovative design pieces. The joint exhibition, named “MSCHF x AMG: Not for Domestic Use“, will take place from May 14-17 within MSCHF’s studio in Brooklyn — marking the first time that the group has invited the public to visit their workspace.
As an admirer, I’d say this AMG collection magically reinvents its components into quirky items such as ergonomic seating, lamps, and even recycling bins. Each creation is a thought-provoking journey reflecting the free-spirited approach of 1960s Italy’s Radical Design movement, inspired by Achille Castiglioni’s ingenious use of industrial materials. Crafted using authentic AMG components and tailor-made to order, these works perfectly combine technical precision with MSCHF’s rebellious artistic philosophy.
At this special event, you’ll get to see apparel and accessories, along with scans of AMG engine components. There’s even a playful fragrance display shaped like an apple tree, symbolizing AMG’s roots in Affalterbach, Germany. The studio is open to the public from May 15-17, between 12–5 p.m., with an opening party on May 14, from 7–11 p.m. Keep in mind that limited-edition items will only be available for a brief period.
