Mr G Returns! Chris Lilley’s HUGE Comeback

Chris Lilley has suggested that he might revive the popular character Mr. G from his comedy series “Summer Heights High,” which was removed from Netflix about four years ago.

On Tuesday, the 50-year-old Aussie comedian posted a video to Instagram featuring a pink exercise ball belonging to Mr. G that was seen bouncing about and eventually coming to rest on a chair.

Even though Chris didn’t provide any explicit hints, spectators got excitedly speculative about him possibly reprising his role as the charismatic drama coach.

‘If it isn’t Mr G, it should be,’ wrote Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Luke Cook.

‘We asked for so long for a Mr G series…I think we are finally receiving!!!’ a second person added.

Chris is set to make his return to acting after a multi-year hiatus, with this role marking his first performance since the 2019 Netflix mockumentary series Lunatics.

In July 2021, four of his TV series were taken down from Netflix because of worries about depictions involving blackface.

The announcement has been made that shows such as “Jonah from Tonga,” “Angry Boys,” “Summer Heights High,” and “We Can Be Heroes” will no longer be available on Netflix in both Australia and New Zealand.

As a committed observer, I found myself pondering concerns over racial bias, as numerous characters in these productions employed the controversial practices of blackface and brownface.

In the show “Angry Boys,” he took on the role of an African-American hip-hop artist named S.mouse and sang a track titled “Squashed G.” This is a rephrased version that aims to maintain clarity while avoiding potentially offensive language.

To embody the character of troubled teen Jonah Takalua, Jonah from Tonga darkened his face and donned a curly wig for his performance.

In We Can Be Heroes, Lilley played Ricky Wong, a Chinese physics student.

In a conversation with The Weekend Australian back in 2019, Chris made it clear that he doesn’t aim for comedy that’s currently popular.

The award-winning comedian went on to say he would continue making ‘clever, layered’ characters.

They seem familiar, like someone you’ve encountered before, but there’s always an unexpected element, a touch of the bizarre.

Over the past year, he has shifted his focus to a wildlife venture. 

Chris is now a YouTube content creator, posting videos about the animal interactions he experiences during his travels across Australia.

A recent video features the iconic funnyman documenting close encounters with kangaroos.

Another video depicts him swimming alongside grey nurse sharks, whereas a previous recording features Chris journeying to Tasmania in pursuit of wombats.

A different video clip has him sharing the water with grey nurse sharks, and an earlier one portrays Chris going to Tasmania to find wombats.
