Mr G Returns: Chris Lilley Confirms Iconic Character’s Comeback!

Chris Lilley has confirmed the comeback of his beloved TV character Mr G.

50-year-old comedian posted a video on Instagram on Wednesday, showcasing his character as the famous teacher from the Australian mockumentary series, Summer Heights High.

In the video, Chris was noticeably tapping his foot, adjusting his tie, crossing his arms, and most certainly, shifting uneasily on his pink exercise ball.

After that, the scene switched to a gray backdrop, and the words ‘Mr G returns!’ appeared in bold red letters, verifying speculation that the popular Australian comedian would be reprising his amusing persona on-screen once more.

Four years after the comedy series was canceled by Netflix, fans flooded the comment section with enthusiasm over the character’s return.

‘Don’t f*** with me I’ll cry,’ one excited fan wrote.

‘FINALLY,’ another expressed.

One person proclaimed: ‘MY DREAM IS FINALLY COMING TRU OMG.’

Wow, yes indeed! It’s great news about Mr. G! This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you so much for his return; I’m thrilled beyond words! I can hardly contain my excitement.

‘Life is worth living again… Mr G is back!’ one fan wrote.

Over the last few days, Chris has been teasing the much-anticipated return of Mr G on his socials.

On Tuesday, the star shared a video featuring Mr. G’s pink exercise ball tumbling about and eventually coming to rest on a chair.

Despite Chris providing no explicit indication, fans enthusiastically fueled rumors about the extravagant drama teacher’s potential comeback.

Before that, he shared a snippet of his skit Mr G The Musical, which sent fans into stitches.

Chris is set to make his return to acting after a hiatus of several years, with this role being the first one he has taken on since his 2019 Netflix show “Lunatics.

In July 2021, four of his TV series were taken down from Netflix because of worries about depictions involving blackface.

It’s been confirmed that shows such as Jonah From Tonga, Angry Boys, Summer Heights High, and We Can Be Heroes will no longer be available on Netflix in both Australia and New Zealand.

The performances sparked discussions on racial bias, since multiple characters were portrayed with blackface and brownface makeup.

In the show “Angry Boys,” he took on the role of an African-American rapper character named S.mouse, and sang a track titled “Squashed Up.

To depict the character of troubled teenager Jonah Takalua, Jonah from Tonga darkened his complexion and donned a curly wig.

In We Can Be Heroes, Lilley played Ricky Wong, a Chinese physics student.

In 2019, when speaking with The Weekend Australian, Chris expressed his views on his comedy style by saying, “I’m not aiming to follow what’s currently popular.

The award-winning comedian went on to say he would continue making ‘clever, layered’ characters.

They seem familiar at first, like someone you’ve encountered before. But then, there’s an unexpected turn, a touch of the extraordinary.

In the final analysis, you might find yourself reflecting, “Funny enough, I can identify with this. She performed an action that mirrors something I do on a daily basis.

Over the past year, Chris has shifted his focus to a wildlife venture.

Chris now functions as a YouTube content creator, posting videos showcasing his wilderness experiences during his travels around Australia.

A recent video features the iconic funnyman documenting close encounters with kangaroos.

A different video features him swimming alongside gray reef sharks, whereas a previous recording documents Chris’s journey to Tasmania for spotting wombats.
