Mr. Crocket ending, explained: Summer’s wacky journey to save Major
As a seasoned gamer with a hearty appetite for horror and suspense, I can confidently say that Mr. Crocket on Hulu has left quite an indelible mark on my psyche. The plot twist involving Eddie’s true identity was nothing short of chilling, and it had me questioning the motives of every character in the film.
Spoilers ahead for Mr. Crocket
As a thrilled viewer, imagine yourself enjoying a TV show with your little one when, all of a sudden, the character leaps off the screen and abducts them! Talk about nightmarish scenarios! That’s exactly what unfolds in the chilling Hulu Original movie, “Mr. Crocket,” directed by Brandon Espy, who also adapted it from his own short film.
This film is among those unveiled during this year’s “Huluween” festival, which commenced towards the beginning of the month on Hulu. The intriguing conclusion of Mr. Crocket can now be watched online, so let’s delve right into it!
Through the television screen
After the tragic loss of both her son and husband, Darren’s mother Rhonda has found herself without a home. However, she’s managed to fill her time by inventing a gadget that enables connection to the distorted TV realm of Mr. Crocket. Thanks to her help, Summer and Eddie are able to locate him and devise a means to enter this world, with the ultimate goal of rescuing the other children trapped there.
Eddie’s real identity revealed
Towards the climax of the movie, Summer and Eddie successfully enter Mr. Crocket’s realm, but unfortunately, Summer gets caught by him. It seems like Eddie will save her next—until an unexpected turn reveals that Eddie is someone else entirely. Mr. Crocket then narrates a tale to the kids about one of his earliest kidnap victims, a boy named Anthony, who was taken long ago.
Who do you think Eddie is? Indeed, it’s none other than the grown-up version of Anthony. As a victim of abuse, Mr. Crocket was the only person who truly cared for Anthony, so he has been searching for him and trying to reconnect his whole life. However, now that Anthony is no longer an innocent child but a flawed adult, Mr. Crocket rejects him. Instead, he hands Anthony over to one of his psychotic teddy bears, who joyfully murders Anthony. Farewell, I suppose.
Regarding Summer, Mr. Crocket presents Major with a tough decision: him or her. Even under Mr. Crocket’s control, Major decides to stay. In a final, fatal move, Mr. Crocket sets up a game intended to eliminate Summer permanently. However, Summer outsmarts Mr. Crocket with Major’s assistance, and together they appear to have killed him and saved all the children.
Is Mr. Crocket really gone for good?
The film concludes with an ominous additional scene. After resuming his normal routine, Major has been exhibiting disruptive behavior at school, including verbal aggression towards other students and even physical altercations. His teacher suspects that the new male presence in Major’s life might be having a detrimental effect on him. Given that Summer is currently single following her husband’s passing, she quickly concludes that Mr. Crocket may still be involved in some way.
The movie alternates between scenes of Summer attending a parent-teacher meeting and Major at home, sketching a family portrait with a man resembling Mr. Crocket as the apparent father figure. The final image is the house trembling and another glimpse of Mr. Crocket on television, suggesting he may be lurking somewhere nearby!
Mr. Crocket is now streaming on Hulu.
