Mr Bates’ Toby Jones teases new drama with David Tennant

Mr Bates Vs The Post Office star Toby Jones has teased a new series with David Tennant.

Last night, during the National Television Awards on September 12th, the star unveiled their latest show and garnered three awards for Mr. Bates, with one of them being the Drama Performance category for Jones.

At a backstage press gathering, the performer verified that their upcoming off-screen endeavor, involving the star of “Doctor Who”, is centered around the infamous phone hacking controversy.

He recently performed a show with David Tennant concerning the hacking scandal, which he shared with Digital Spy and other media outlets.

Speaking about upcoming projects, he mentioned: “I’ve wrapped up a new movie focusing on Richard Burton’s discovery, tentatively set for release early next year starring Harry Lawtey from ‘Industry’. I’m eager to see if this intriguing project will pique people’s interest.

“There’s a new ITV show about Ruth Ellis that I’m in with Lucy Boynton.”

At present, specifics about the progress of the phone hacking series remain uncertain. Earlier this year, however, it was hinted that the series was being created by writer Jack Thorne, as previously mentioned in The Cinemaholic.

As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but cheer when Mr. Bates clinched both the Best New Drama and Impact Awards at the NTAs! His significant role in rallying public support for those impacted by the Post Office scandal was truly commendable.

Among the evening’s notable victors were soap opera “Emmerdale,” claiming the title of Serial Drama, and the dynamic duo Ant & Dec capturing the TV Presenter Award for an impressive 23rd time. Additionally, the esteemed Davina McCall was honored with the Special Recognition Award.

Recently, Mr. Bates released a new documentary titled “Mr. Bates Challenges the Post Office: The Aftermath“, focusing on the repercussions experienced by the subpostmasters following the initial broadcast.
