Captain Pheww of Team Falcons PH discusses the factors that fuel their drive to emerge victorious during the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 15.
During Week 2 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL PH) Season 15 Regular Season, we witnessed an epic clash between two powerhouse teams, Team Falcons PH and ONIC PH, who seemed to be competing in a championship final. The competition was so intense that it tested both teams’ abilities to their utmost limits, even during the drafting phase.
In Game 1, ONIC PH’s Gold Laner, Kelra, masterfully guided his team to a decisive win. However, Super Marco from Team Falcon, their Gold Laner, brilliantly reversed the series outcome with an outstanding performance. To cap it all off, he clinched the season’s first Savage, a remarkable six-kill streak, underscoring his significant contribution to Falcon’s thrilling comeback.
This team has stayed together for numerous seasons, managing to keep their performance at its best. It’s hard not to ponder what fuels their continuity. During the post-match press conference, our team captain Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel addressed this curiosity. Interestingly, his answer strikes a chord with us all.
The secret to Team Falcons PH’s unwavering commitment to win: Money

Even before joining Team Falcons PH, its players weren’t always dominant from the start. They didn’t win every match, and early-stage struggles were a common theme in their tournament runs. However, what set them apart was their relentless pursuit of improvement. Rather than being discouraged by setbacks, they focused on consistency, analyzing their mistakes, and refining their strategies for the battles ahead.
A consistent trend emerged—rocky starts leading to an upward trajectory. The team gradually gained momentum, reaching their peak performance at the optimal moment. Their resolute dedication to staying united and enhancing team dynamics, rather than frequent roster changes each season, is what ultimately sets them apart as a top-tier championship contender.
After the game, team leader Pheww expressed their disappointment during the post-game interview because they didn’t manage to secure a spot in this year’s M5 World Championship, where they aimed to defend their championship title from last season.
Pheww said that it wasn’t enjoyable since we didn’t make it to the Worlds. However, he acknowledged that’s just how things go – you either succeed or fail. We’ve had our fair share of losses in the past and understood that not every game can be won.
Rather than giving up, the team channels their disappointment into renewed determination to regain their form for MPL PH Season 15, and there are additional factors at play too. One of these motivators, as explained by Pheww, is the pursuit of financial success.
After a loss, everyone gets inspired to do better, particularly when they realize the reward money is minimal. This is why we are determined to recover swiftly,” Pheww expressed.
Pheww’s answer is exceptionally genuine, seldom given by esports players upon repetition of the same query.
