Movie studio behind blockbuster smashes has purged woke staff to try and improve its movies – but rival behind iconic franchise has doubled down on woke, expert claim

Movie studio behind blockbuster smashes has purged woke staff to try and improve its movies - but rival behind iconic franchise has doubled down on woke, expert claimA movie studio behind some of the most iconic superhero films has allegedly purged their staff of woke activists in a last ditch effort to save their franchise, while their rival doubles down on progressive plotlines.

Insider sources suggest Marvel Studios is overhauling its leadership to tackle activist staffers keen to project their views onto plotlines.
But Lucasfilm – the studio behind Star Wars – is said to be continuing to let progressive workers rule the roost. Both Marvel and Lucasfilm are owned by Disney, but operate separate studios and have their own creative teams.

As a die-hard Marvel fan with decades of comic book history etched into my heart, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation regarding the latest developments at Marvel Studios. Having grown up with Iron Man, Captain America, and the Avengers, it’s disheartening to see the studio seemingly veer off course in recent years.

On Friday, Chris Gore, renowned film critic and founder of Film Threat, voiced his opinions about Marvel during an episode of The Critical Drinker’s podcast.

According to Gore, I am acquainted with individuals employed by Marvel Studios. He mentioned that a significant change has taken place there – back then, silently over several months, they let go of all the producers who could be categorized as ‘activists.’

Gore shared that Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, acknowledged that being politically progressive, or “going woke,” wasn’t successful for them. He explained this by stating, “[Feige] admitted he gave it a try, but it didn’t yield the desired results.”

The renowned movie reviewer added, “He’s discussing Phase 4, but in my opinion, it fell flat. I gave it a shot, but it didn’t deliver. It lacked Kang and those supporting characters who don’t share the same iconic status as classic characters.”

As a long-time comic book fan and someone who has witnessed the evolution of superhero movies over the years, I can confidently say that this year’s box office successes of Deadpool and Wolverine have proven to me that “male and pale is money.”

In contrast, Gore said the rival studio, also owned by Disney, Lucasfilm, ‘is lost.’

According to Gore, they’re firmly committed to all the foolishness. Don’t expect any quality from Lucasfilm or Star Wars – that’s the bottom line.

In simpler terms, Gore foresaw the Marvel franchise regaining its success by releasing the pending films that some consider “progressive,” and then concentrating exclusively on providing enjoyable viewing experiences for audiences, instead of delivering lectures.

According to Gore, it seems like we’ll be in for a year filled with less-than-stellar Marvel content, considering shows like Agatha All Along and Ironheart, along with the upcoming movies Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four.

Lately, Marvel surprised their fan community by announcing that Robert Downey Jr., known for his role as Iron Man, will rejoin the Marvel Universe, this time portraying the villain Doctor Doom in the upcoming movies Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars duology. This could be an effort by Marvel to win back their audience.

Enthusiastic Marvel followers were excitedly looking forward to the debut of the classic antagonist, Dr. Doom, and a possible comeback of Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. again.

However, the recent announcement that Downey Jr. would portray Dr. Doom has left them stunned.

Gore expressed curiosity about how Robert Downey Jr. will be utilized, as he ponders whether the actor is essentially reprising his role as Tony Stark or simply portraying a distinct character. Either way, Gore finds the studio’s decision intriguing.

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be released in 2025.

The production of movies promoting progressive ideologies has stirred up reactions among other Hollywood studios, even reaching Pixar, which is associated with Disney on a third level. The upcoming Buzz Lightyear prequel, Lightyear, caused an uproar due to the inclusion of a lesbian kiss. In a recorded conversation, a Disney executive expressed their intention to incorporate as many narratives featuring LGBTQ+ characters as feasible.

The current CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, has now changed his stance, emphasizing that Disney prioritizes its narrative-driven content over political activism.
