MOUZ deny Falcons first big CS2 event win in Cluj-Napoca
MOUZ has defied the odds to lift their first trophy of 2025, and in front of live audience at last.
MOUZ has successfully silenced the criticism from CS2 community following their decision to part ways with IGL Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek. They have already claimed an early trophy in 2025 at PGL Cluj-Napoca, despite a late challenge by Team Falcons, ultimately winning 3-1 (13-6, 4-13, 13-11, 13-9).
In a significant milestone, MOUZ has lifted their first trophy since ESL Pro League Season 19, which also marks their initial victory in front of a live audience in more than five years. This triumph came after an initially challenging start for the team with the current roster configuration in 2025.
MOUZ break stage LAN duck in thrilling fashion
MOUZ achieved the highest position in Cluj-Napoca for the first time, a significant milestone for an organization accustomed to triumph, yet typically operating outside of the limelight. Previous impressive wins were at EPL or BetBoom Dacha, but they lacked the full experience due to absent stages, audiences, and the glamour of bright lights.
In Romania, the team effectively silenced any doubts about their abilities by delivering an impressive, polished performance. The stage was set alight by Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin’s leadership, who, despite not leading in individual scores, managed to surprise many with his effective transition into the In-Game Leader role at just 22 years old. This young talent skillfully steered MOUZ to a remarkable victory, an achievement that left spectators in awe.
After the game, Brollan expressed his tremendous joy, saying, “I am incredibly pleased! This is my first tournament as an In-Game Leader (IGL), and I’m elated that I trusted in myself and my teammates when they trusted me too. We all believed we could accomplish this.” He also mentioned that he put a lot of effort into this final win and is extremely satisfied with the outcome. The past few weeks have been demanding for him.
Coach Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen mirrored the captain’s thoughts, noting that MOUZ’s first arena victory was overdue. “This group of individuals has been waiting for quite some time,” he said. “I believe it was a collective effort today—everyone was mentally focused, even without securing the initial pistols.
As a gamer, I kicked off the grand final with a commanding 13-6 performance on Dust 2, leaving my opponents struggling to keep up. However, Falcons didn’t back down; they fought back. In our next match on Mirage, NiKo and TeSeS were unstoppable, racking up an impressive 42 kills together, leading us to a 13-4 victory.
However, after prevailing in Nuke (13-11) on the T side, MOUZ sped up on Ancient and aimed to wrap up the series in just four maps. Despite being challenged by a determined NiKo side, they managed to resist Falcons and ultimately finished their winning streak, securing the tournament victory.
Dorian “xertioN” Berman, who was named man of the match, expressed his joy with a simple statement: “I’m overwhelmed. It feels incredible to experience victory after so many losses, especially when it counts.” He continued, expressing pride in their team environment: “We’ve created an outstanding setting where we can both feel and perform at our best, and I have great faith in our abilities here.
2025 has been a period of growth and progression for Falcons, who managed to reach their first major final despite some initial criticism surrounding a project in Saudi Arabia. Since the rebuilding phase, they’ve shown remarkable strength and resilience. Currently, they are in a promising stage, enjoying the early triumphs, but taking time to heal after an otherwise impressive tournament.
Regarding MOUZ, some might downplay their win in Cluj-Napoca since several top 10 teams opted out of the event. However, that victory has made them a marked team. The real question is if it will take another five years before they secure another championship win.
MOUZ and Falcons are packing their bags from PGL Cluj-Napoca as they prepare for the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 21, slated to start on March 1.
