Morrissey cancels Valencia show due to sleep deprivation after being left in ‘catatonic state’ by city noise

Morrissey cancelled his Valencia concert because he was severely sleep-deprived. The loud noise from the city’s Las Fallas festival left him unable to function properly.

The musician, 66, was due to perform in the Spanish city on Thursday.

According to a post on Morrissey’s official website, the artist arrived at his hotel in Valance late Wednesday, March 26th, after a two-day drive.

The festival noise – including loud music and announcements – made it impossible to sleep all night.

A follow-up message confirmed that the gig would not be taking place.

Tonight’s show in Valencia has been cancelled because the performers are too exhausted to play.

Morrissey traveled from Milan to Valencia, but the noise levels are preventing him from getting any rest. Despite this, the concert hasn’t been canceled, though current conditions are making it impossible to perform.

Let me tell you, my recent stay at the Plaza Manises hotel was… challenging, to say the least. Honestly, it was such a dreadful experience, I’m predicting it’ll take a full year for me to fully bounce back – and that’s really putting it mildly! I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, and this one was truly something else – not in a good way, unfortunately.

The musician known as Suedehead is known for unexpectedly cancelling shows. He’s already cancelled six performances on his current tour, including a show in St. Petersburg, Florida in January, which was attributed to illness.

Ticketmaster announced that the event was canceled by the organizer.

No action is needed from you. We’ll automatically refund the purchase amount to your original payment method as soon as we receive the funds from the event organizer. You should see the refund reflected in your account within 2 to 3 weeks.

After Morrissey unexpectedly cancelled a performance, fans took to social media to joke about it, with one popular comment stating, ‘You can always count on death, taxes, and Morrissey cancelling a show.’

Okay, so tomorrow when my boss asks why I’m not in, I’m totally blaming it on needing to stay in bed, just like Morrissey said! It’s honestly a brilliant excuse, and a rare moment where I completely agree with him. Seriously, rest well, Moz – you’re speaking my language! I feel so seen right now.

Morrissey has concerts scheduled for March 14th in Zaragoza and March 16th in Seville, but it’s currently unclear if they will happen.
