More action is coming our way! Find out when you can start watching Lioness season 2 (And get a first-look)
As a die-hard fan of gripping, action-packed dramas that showcase strong female characters, I am beyond thrilled to learn that Lioness Season 2 is set to premiere on Paramount+ this coming October 27, 2024! The anticipation has been building ever since the first season left us hanging with a cliffhanger and the announcement of its renewal.
The rebranded show, now known as “The Lioness,” has revealed its premiere date for season 2 on Paramount+. This captivating spy thriller will make its comeback on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024. The initial two episodes will be released that day, with subsequent episodes following each Sunday thereafter. Although a trailer hasn’t been released yet, the star-studded cast and fresh title suggest that “The Lioness” is poised to reappear on our screens very soon.
Recently, Taylor Sheridan has kept a bustling schedule on television, mainly due to the success of Yellowstone and its spinoffs. He’s been exploring different genres while still maintaining his knack for crafting intricate stories centered around compelling characters. One such production was Special Ops: Lioness, which premiered on Paramount+ in 2023.
The series has been successful and will continue for another season, making its name just “Lioness“. Besides the release date, we also have a summary and some images to provide more information!
What’s coming in Lioness Season 2?
In the second season of “Lioness,” we see the main characters returning, which includes Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, and Laysla De Oliveira. Her character departed at the end of last season, but it appears that won’t be a permanent goodbye. The specifics of the plot are still being kept secret, but it seems as though the show is embarking on another perilous mission that could uncover a government conspiracy within the U.S. Here’s the description provided by Paramount+:
As the CIA’s fight against terror moves closer to home, Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman), and Byron (Kelly) enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat. With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.
Joining the ensemble this time are Bruce McGill portraying NSA Chief Damian Hollar, Jennifer Ehle stepping into the role of Chief of Staff Mason, and Genesis Rodriguez playing Captain Josephina “Josie” Carillo, a resolute and committed helicopter pilot. Additionally, returning from season 1 will be Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, and Hannah Love Lanier.
The recently shared photos subtly suggest some high-stakes events, with the main image depicting a wounded Joe following a mission, bleeding profusely. Kaitlyn maintains her intensity, possibly dealing with fresh responsibilities and overseeing the operation of the program.
It appears that Kaitlyn and Joe are engaged in a discussion, possibly finalizing a strategy or debating their objectives and approaches. A potential conflict within the team could be detrimental, and both women seem firm in their positions, unwilling to yield to each other.
Ultimately, Mullins seems to be contemplating something. Being the seasoned politician that he is, it remains uncertain whether this development bodes well or not for our heroines.
Despite not having the trailer or further clues about upcoming events, it seems that “Lioness” is gearing up for a thrilling second season. This is certainly fantastic news for its loyal viewers!
Season 1 of Special Ops: Lioness revolves around the Lioness division of the CIA, an elite unit made up of female operatives. Zoe Saldana portrays Joe, the leader of field agents, who enlists Cruz Manuelos (played by Laysla De Oliveira) for a perilous mission involving undercover work to track down a terrorist. The task was challenging, and it became more difficult when Joe grappled with personal problems such as a troubled marriage and an unruly child. The season concluded with Cruz successfully completing the mission but deciding to leave the program.
Lioness Season 2 premieres Sunday, October 27, on Paramount+.
