The Gardeners’ World star has been a beacon of inspiration and knowledge for me since I first started gardening, and his dedication to the art is truly commendable.
On Saturdays, Monty Don made his comeback on stage for the initial time since he was unexpectedly taken to the emergency room due to an unidentified health issue.
69-year-old Monty Don, a prominent figure on Gardeners’ World, had to postpone six events during his “An Evening with Monty Don” tour due to an extended hospital stay.
After taking up his tour again, Monty has been posting photos on Instagram that show him within Cambridge’s Corn Exchange and Ipswich, making it clear that he has returned.

I’m thrilled to be back on stage, having had to postpone my performances in Exeter, Truro, Bath, and Nottingham over the past weekend due to unavoidable circumstances. It feels fantastic to be reunited with my fans once again!
In this Instagram post, Monty expressed his sincere apologies saying, ‘Hi everyone. I regret that I’ve let down those of you who planned to attend my events in Exeter, Truro, Bath, and Nottingham.’
He revealed that his health took a sudden turn just over a week ago.
As your trusted lifestyle advisor, let me share my recent experience: “Over the weekend, I found myself unexpectedly admitted to the emergency room. I spent three days at the hospital – Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. During that time, I was connected to IV drips and received various medical treatments.
But the star reassured fans that his condition had improved and he was back home resting.
Upon arriving home yesterday evening, I find myself in a significantly improved state of health. Over the subsequent days, I plan to take it easy, focusing on rest and recovery right here at home. By the weekend, I hope to have fully recuperated and returned to peak fitness.
Throughout the performance, Monty expresses his deep-seated love for gardens and elucidates their significant impact on human creativity and health.
For more than three decades, Monty has been crafting television shows, while assuming the main hosting role on the BBC’s Gardener’s World since 2003.
Following his successful tour in 2022, Monty embarked on a journey across the UK in November. During this trip, he discussed his experiences in gardening, highlighted his preferred gardens – ranging from ancient to contemporary ones, and shared his affection for the natural world, explaining how it captured his heart.
It remains unclear if he’ll catch up on the missed dates, but his last planned performance is scheduled for December 2nd.
