Rebecca Judd’s life changed forever when she attended the 2004 Brownlow Medal count 21 years ago.
Rebecca Judd (then Rebecca Twigley), now 42, famously turned heads at a glamorous event wearing a striking red dress, alongside her future husband, Chris Judd. This moment brought her significant media attention.
Commentator Sam Newman, from The Footy Show, was particularly impressed with Rebecca’s daring red carpet outfit.
Rebecca recently posted an old video on her Instagram story featuring an interview with the celebrity known for causing controversy.
The video started with Rebecca walking purposefully across the lobby of the Crown Palladium, the location for the awards ceremony that year.
Spying the brunette beauty, Sam, with microphone in hand, quickly made a beeline for the WAG.
‘Excuse me please,’ he said.
Everyone who’s visited has been asking about Chris Judd’s girlfriend. I always tell them they look great, and then immediately they ask about her.
As he spoke, Sam apparently could not help his eyes wandering over Rebecca’s enviably svelte form.
I just had to get a little closer, you know? Sam was totally losing it, completely mesmerized by Rebecca’s dress. Seriously, it was *stunning*. He couldn’t stop talking about it, he was just completely captivated. I mean, who could blame him?
‘You look absolutely sensational,’ he swooned.
‘Everyone – man, woman and beast have said that you look the best.’
Rebecca was a little surprised by what Sam said, and responded with a drawn-out ‘great’ that sounded distinctly Australian.
Sam and Rebecca continued their brief conversation, with Sam first asking if Rebecca was really into fitness, and then asking about her job.
‘No, I’m not a fitness fanatic,’ she replied.

I work as a model, and I’m also a university student – though I’ve taken a break from my studies. I actually changed what I’m studying; I’m now going to be training to become a speech pathologist.
Sam, with his eyes still planted firmly on Rebecca’s dress, replied: ‘speech pathology.’
Rebecca shared that a particular part of the old conversation stuck with her family for a long time.
‘My kids take the p*** out of me often saying “GREAAAAAAAT”,’ she quipped.
Rebecca’s iconic Brownlow dress was recently immortalised with its own Wikipedia entry.
The stunning outfit, created by Ruth Tarvydas and costing a remarkable $2,000, played a significant role in launching Bec to fame as a prominent WAG (Wife and Girlfriend of a high-profile athlete).
As a long-time fan, I remember when Bec Guppy really shook things up with her style! The Wikipedia page about her details it all, and it even includes a pretty famous quote from Andrew Demetriou, who was the AFL CEO at the time. It was quite a moment!
The head of Australian Rules Football called the stunning brunette’s appearance at the Brownlow Medal ceremony one of the most memorable moments of the 2004 season.

Rebecca took to Instagram last month to share a screenshot of the Wikipedia entry.
The post featured a quote from Sarah Davidson, who recently interviewed the AFL WAG on her ‘Seize The Yay’ podcast about her memorable red carpet appearance.
‘Lol! It [Bec’s gown] has its own Wiki page,’ the podcaster said.
She added that it was a truly iconic moment for Australian fashion, and she was delighted to have learned about it firsthand.
I’ve always thought Bec is a genuinely kind and approachable person, especially considering her field, and that really comes across when we talk.
Rebecca married Chris Judd on New Year’s Eve in 2010, and they have four children together: Oscar, who is 12, Billie, 9, and eight-year-old twins, Tom and Darcy.
