Moment Davina McCall breaks down in tears as she talks about ‘courage’ and ‘being strong’ weeks before having brain tumour surgery
As I delve into the captivating narrative of Davina’s journey, I am deeply moved by her resilience and courage. Her life story is a testament to the indomitable spirit that lies within each one of us. The way she faces adversity with grace and positivity is truly inspiring.
Davina McCall broke down in tears on Instagram live nine weeks before having brain tumour surgery.
Last week, the speaker underwent surgery to take out an uncommon colloid cyst, which impacts merely about 3 out of every million individuals. At present, he is 57 years old.
On Tuesday evening, Davina’s partner Michael Douglas, now 50 years old and recently shared that she is no longer in intensive care, reposted a video on Davina’s Instagram stories with the caption: “Perhaps this will be clearer now.
In the video, Davina appeared noticeably moved as she recited Donna Ashworth’s poem titled “Yellow.
The My Mum, Your Dad host said: ‘I am really sorry that I am crying and everything. I don’t do this very often but I really wanted to share this with you.
I simply wanted to express that there are moments in life when all signs seem to be guiding towards a single path, and at present, I find myself immersed in a project that has me pondering quite deeply.
Each day, I return home with a mind brimming with data. I’m processing such an array of facts and ideas, which in turn, sparks numerous realizations.
A recurring theme I find myself contemplating is the concept of ‘courage’. It encompasses bravery, resilience, and strength. Essentially, it’s about navigating this upcoming stage of my life and understanding what it holds for me.
I can’t help but exclaim that my mind is ablaze with unceasing epiphanies regarding my own life and the bonds I share with my cherished friends and kin, just as Davina put it.
She continued: ‘But this word courage and bravery keep coming up for me. Guess what this book is called? Growing Brave.
‘Let me share with you this bracelet that reads “courage.” Coincidentally, I received Donna’s book recently, and I believe it’s a sign that I’m on the correct path.’
Later, Davina mentioned that Donna had saved the poem titled ‘Yellow’ and found it incredibly relatable for herself.
She read: ‘Some people walk into your life with a light that can only be described as yellow infusing the very air around with the silent sound of this will be okay nothing hard can stay we will find a way together. We can reach calmer weather’.
Near the conclusion of the poem, Davina was finding it difficult to maintain her composure as she declared, ‘They battle with their inner demons, too. They require a hue to inspire them, and I believe they discovered a kindred spirit in your yellow self.’
She added: ‘I love this so much. How good is this? Oh my god.’
At that moment, people who saw Davina’s post expressed their affection for the poem, yet they were oblivious to the challenges she was facing privately in her personal life.
Last week, Davina told fans she was having brain surgery.
The presenter said she received the diagnosis by chance after booking in for a ‘health scan’.
A colloid cyst is a slow-growing tumour typically found near the center of the brain. The benign growth contains gelatinous material.
They are often asymptomatic and found incidentally during imaging tests.
Should symptoms arise due to the growth of the tumor, they typically involve intense headaches, especially when waking up in the morning, accompanied by feelings of nausea and vision impairment, such as blurriness. Additionally, symptoms like dizziness (vertigo) and double vision may also occur.
Most patients present with headaches, although other symptoms including vertigo, memory problems and double vision can occur.
Should it be sufficiently sized, a colloid cyst can block the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the brain, potentially causing a significant risk of abrupt demise.
She said: ‘I was offered a health scan which I thought I was going to ace but it turned out I had benign brain tumour which is very rare, three in a million.
As an ardent enthusiast, I’ve been burying my head in the sand for some time, seeking counsel from a handful of esteemed neurosurgeons along the way. After absorbing numerous viewpoints, I came to the stark realization that I had to confront the issue head-on and extricate myself from it.
This object is rather large, measuring approximately 14 millimeters in width. Due to its size, it’s best for it to be extracted as it might grow further, which could potentially cause problems. I am planning to have it taken out.
She added: ‘Say a prayer for me. I’m in good spirits.’
Davina shared that, even though there wasn’t an immediate danger, her doctors were worried about the possibility of the tumor expanding further and potentially leading to complications.
She shared that her emotions had been fluctuating, and she clarified that she would need to stay in the hospital for at least nine days before returning home.
The presenter’s partner revealed on Tuesday a huge update that she was now out of intensive care.
He wrote on her Instagram: ‘Update folks. Thanks so much to all the well wishers. She really has made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours.
‘She is out of ICU She is ‘loving awareness’Thank you xx Michael.’
The grid post then read: ‘Update – Mega progress these last 24 hours. Massive relief to see some light breaking through. Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles. Up and Up.’
