Molly-Mae Hague Faces Backlash for Eating Nuggets While Driving Luxury Mercedes!

In my role as a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that I’ve found myself at the receiving end of some constructive criticism from road safety advocates. It seems my habit of enjoying a bite while driving my luxurious Mercedes-Benz 4×4 during filming for my latest Amazon Prime documentary series hasn’t gone unnoticed. While I appreciate their concern, I’m taking this opportunity to spread awareness about the importance of safe driving practices and ensuring all distractions are minimized, even if that means saving my meals for when I’ve safely parked.

Charities such as the Royal Society for Road Safety and IAM RoadSmart (previously known as the Institute of Advanced Drivers) have criticized the influencer for eating a takeout while driving and urged her to pause her journey to consume her meal, or wait until she reaches her destination.

Additionally, they expressed concern about the severe repercussions that might stem from Molly-Mae’s actions, advised her to always prioritize safety first, and cautioned her that legal action could be taken against her.

From the opening scene of Behind It All, Molly-Mae can be seen requesting a McDonald’s takeout at a drive-through window as she relaxes comfortably in her high-end vehicle.

She requests a sizable Chicken Big Mac combo, along with six pieces of chicken nuggets, and a box to share the mozzarella sticks. To complete her order, she added three sauces: curry, ketchup, and BBQ.

A short while passes; Molly-Mae, a past Love Island contestant, is steering her Mercedes-Benz G-Class estate car. As the scene shifts, she’s caught on camera munching on chicken nuggets. Meanwhile, the speedometer flashes 61mph.

Molly-Mae expresses her enthusiasm for food to her vast audience of young viewers: “I have a deep passion for food, almost as if I exist primarily to savor meals. Many individuals around me opt for salads, but that’s not my style. If it’s a salad with chips, count me in!

However, her casual laughter during driving hasn’t been met favorably by road safety advocates, who caution that such behavior might result in legal action.

A representative from IAM RoadSmart, Harriet Hernando, mentioned: ‘Though eating while driving isn’t against the law, any activity that diverts your focus from the road counts as distraction. The authorities have the power to charge you with reckless driving if they deem it careless.’

Regardless of the weather being dry, if you’re cruising along at 60 miles per hour while having a meal, should an unexpected emergency arise and require you to apply the brakes hard, it will take you more than 70 feet to bring your vehicle to a complete halt.

Hey there! Being preoccupied can lead to some serious mishaps. For instance, it might make you forget to hit the brakes in time, potentially leading to a major accident. And let’s not forget about the perils of accidentally spilling hot food on yourself. That could trigger an unexpected response, possibly not the one you’d want!

This situation significantly elevates the danger for other drivers, substantially boosting the likelihood of an accident that could result in death or severe injury.

It’s crucial to enhance understanding, particularly among novice drivers, that such actions are not appropriate: Recent findings from IAM RoadSmart reveal that approximately half (46%) of young drivers aged 18-26 admit to eating while driving.

‘Our advice to Molly-Mae Hague is to avoid eating while driving and take a break instead.’

Caitlin Taylor, the Road Safety Manager at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, shared similar thoughts with her.

She informed Mail Online, “Any action that requires you to let go of the steering wheel or divert your attention from driving could potentially multiply the chances of an accident.

In 2023, it was discovered that distracted driving played a significant role in causing accidents on our roads. This distraction can slow down reaction times significantly and make it difficult to respond to potential dangers. As a result, there were 754 collisions reported that led to either fatalities or severe injuries, which were primarily due to in-vehicle distractions.

Driving fast, when it’s allowed, requires a driver’s undivided attention for the sake of everyone on the road – the driver, passengers, and fellow drivers. A brief lapse in focus, like reaching for a quick bite, could result in severe accidents.

In the spirit of promoting safety and minimizing accidents, RoSPA encourages every driver to always put safety first. Small actions like having a meal prior to driving or taking a break when hunger strikes can significantly lower potential dangers on the road.

As a dedicated road enthusiast, I’ve learned a captivating fact: a research conducted at the University of Leeds unveiled that drivers munching while they navigate are a staggering 44% slower to respond, compared to their usual pace. This sluggishness is attributed to the distraction caused by eating, which in turn diverts their attention from the road.

Eating while driving isn’t necessarily illegal, but the RAC advises that if eating causes distraction and affects your ability to properly manage the vehicle, police officers might charge you with careless driving. This offense can result in an immediate fine of £100 and three penalty points added to your license.

Previously, Julie Townsend – a past deputy CEO of the road safety charity Brake – has voiced her opposition towards consuming food while driving.

Regular driving requires our utmost focus because it’s one of the riskiest activities many of us engage in daily. We shouldn’t treat our vehicles like extensions of our living spaces, such as the kitchen or bathroom.

Dining while driving frequently leads to distraction as you divert your focus from the road. This distraction significantly boosts the likelihood of an accident that could result in severe injury or even death for others.

Following Molly’s confession that she hasn’t been truthful with anyone, the documentary, “Behind It All,” proceeds.

The six-part documentary series intends to unveil the authentic Molly-Mae, delving beyond the news stories and charting her journey following her split with Tommy Fury.

In the latest open book series, the influencer reveals her balancing act – caring for daughter Bambi, running her brand Maebe, handling the spotlight, and discussing her widely known separation.
