Modern Family star’s new comedy axed after one season
The supernatural comedy series, titled ‘Hysteria!‘, featuring Julie Bowen and Bruce Campbell, has been terminated following its first season.
Despite not being broadcast in the UK, the TV show known as “The Peacock” made its debut in the U.S. back in October, however, it didn’t receive an order for a second season (as reported by Variety).
In the late 1980s, this horror-comedy story revolves around a struggling high school heavy metal band. Their luck turns when they opt to cash in on the Satanic Panic hysteria by reinventing themselves as a Satanic musical act.
Simultaneously, an unusual string of killings and vanishings are troubling the peaceful community, with sheriff Ben Dandridge, portrayed by the actor from “Evil Dead,” leading the investigation.
As a die-hard fan, I’d like to highlight that the talented actors embodying the heavy metal trio of misfits – Dylan, Jordi, and Spud – are none other than Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, and Kezii Curtis, respectively.
In the production, Linda, Dylan’s mother, is played by Anna Camp from “Pitch Perfect,” while Tracy, a character with strong religious beliefs, is portrayed by her, and the peculiar Ingrid is brought to life on screen by Milly Shapiro, who was seen in “Hereditary.
As a dedicated gamer, I can tell you that the highly-acclaimed game “Hysteria!” unfortunately won’t be releasing any new episodes, boasting an impressive 91% critical approval rating on the review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes.
On Instagram, Matthew Scott Kane, the creator and co-showrunner, posted photos of the initial script and applauded their “awesome little series” as it concluded its narrative path.
He expressed his affection for everyone who contributed to creating this show, saying, “I adore each and every one of you! I am incredibly proud of what you have accomplished!” To those who watched, he offered his gratitude with, “Thank you so much!” Looking forward to seeing you all again in the next production.
In the realm of television show cancellations, Natasha Rothwell, who starred in The White Lotus, found herself dealing with the cancellation of her dramedy series How To Die Alone, even though it had garnered positive reviews following its first season.
Rothwell, both the lead actor and show creator, expressed her surprise, sadness, and confusion when learning that the series titled How To Die Alone had been cancelled.
She expressed in a statement that it’s hard to accept this truth because the series has been unquestionably critically acclaimed, creative, and award-winning. “It took me eight years to create this show, and through that experience, I have come to understand resilience,” she said.
