Mod of GTA 6 Map in GTA 5 Taken Down by Copyright Claim

In the world of Grand Theft Auto V, there exists a mod that introduces an estimated layout of what could be Grand Theft Auto VI’s map. However, Take-Two Interactive has taken action to remove this modification from the game.

Dark Space, a YouTuber, collaborated with the modding community to analyze the trailer and generate an initial idea of the map for the forthcoming game.

In the beginning of his latest video, Dark Space shared that he had spent numerous months creating a fan-made map for GTA 6 within GTA 5, a labor of love rather than a money-making venture. However, soon after posting a video displaying this project, Take-Two Interactive swiftly removed it – no prior notice was given and there was no dialogue between the parties, just an abrupt disappearance.

Reflecting on my recent chat with IGN, I shared that going into this project, I knew it could be a reality. And honestly, the fact that it came to fruition wasn’t surprising at all.

One possible explanation given by Dark Space for taking down the server is that the map modification could have potentially overshadowed some of Rockstar’s original shine.

It seems that my map might have inadvertently spoiled their map’s surprise. Given the effort put into creating a captivating game world, I can understand why someone would not want a YouTube content creator to reveal the layout, scale, and overall ambiance of the map, thereby diminishing the player’s initial experience. If I were in their shoes, I would also request its removal.

GTA VI is scheduled for release in autumn this year, on consoles and PC.
