Mock The Week is returning to TV on a brand new channel – three years after it was axed

The comedy show *Mock The Week*, known for its humorous take on current events and hosted by Dara Ó Briain, is making a comeback on a new TV channel. This return comes three years after the BBC cancelled it.

The show first appeared on television in 2005 and continued for 21 seasons over 17 years, before ending in 2022. Throughout its run, it welcomed many well-known guests, including comedians Russell Howard, Katherine Ryan, Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons, and Frankie Boyle.

The comedy show will be back on TLC when the channel is available for free in the UK, starting in January 2026, reports the Metro.

Currently, the cast hasn’t been revealed, but many fans are hoping to see some of the original actors return.

Warner Bros Discovery announced that *Mock the Week* is coming back with a fresh format. The show will be produced by Angst Productions, the team who originally created it.

When the show was cancelled, host Dara Ó Briain joked that the UK had ‘finally run out of news’.

Honestly, the game’s story was just getting ridiculous. It felt like every update threw in some insane new event – worldwide plagues, Britain ditching Europe, and prime ministers who barely lasted a few weeks! It was reaching a point where it just wasn’t believable anymore, and I knew something had to change.

It is with sadness that we announce the closure of Dara and Hugh’s Academy for Baby Comedians. The news itself was already quite absurd, and we simply couldn’t top it with our own silliness.

We’re incredibly grateful to all the guests we’ve hosted over the years! It’s been wonderful seeing so many of them achieve great things, even if we haven’t heard from them since. It was truly a pleasure.

A representative from Angst Productions expressed disappointment about the end of Mock the Week, but hopes the show might return in some form later on.

The past seventeen years at BBC Two have been fantastic. It’s been a real honor working with so many amazing performers, and we want to thank the BBC and all our wonderful fans worldwide for their support.
