MOCHI-O lets you use cute handheld weapons and defend your country, launching soon on mobile and PC

Story Highlights

  • MOCHI-O is a post-apocalyptic homeland defense adventure where you raise a cute, hamster-like weapon to defeat waves of enemies.
  • The game features heartfelt dialogue, retro-style defense shooting, various skills, a running wheel, and more.

Excitedly, I share that the renowned publisher, Kodansha, has disclosed their upcoming strategy-adventure game titled MOCHI-O, set to drop on Android, iOS, and PC devices this year! This intriguing indie title is brought to us by the talented developers at Zxima, who have previously captivated audiences with engrossing games like Parasite Days and Catastrophe Restaurant. Alas, the specific launch date for MOCHI-O remains a mystery for now.

Hold your cute hamster-looking weapon and defeat waves of enemies

Mochi-O is a leisurely homeland defense adventure set in a heartwarming, post-apocalyptic environment. In this game, you nurture and care for Mochi-O, an adorable, hamster-like instrument of destruction, to repel hordes of adversaries. Simultaneously, you journey through a damaged but endearing landscape.

This game has me genuinely thrilled! It allows you to grip MOCHI-O in your right hand, target adversaries, and strike – very much like the old-school arcade light gun games, except there’s no actual light gun required. The experience reminds me strongly of Duck Hunt, a game I spent countless hours playing as a child using a light gun controller.

Collect seeds, unlock skills, and boost your hamster-like weapon’s stats

Furthermore, vanquished adversaries yield seeds, gathering which grants you experience points that open a variety of abilities from a selection. You can also utilize the coins acquired in combat to improve your MOCHI-O. I am excited about unlocking all the weapons, increasing MOCHI-O’s loyalty, and enhancing its attributes by feeding it seeds.

As an eager fan, I can’t help but feel excited about this upcoming game! From the heartwarming conversations between characters to the thrilling handheld destruction, not to mention the unique mechanic of scattering seeds to grow MOCHI-O. The defense shooter gameplay, nostalgic visuals, diverse skills, and even a running wheel have me hooked. I can’t wait to jump in once it goes live!

Mochi-O is set to debut on Android, iOS devices, and PCs later this year. At the moment, an exact launch date has not been disclosed yet. Keep checking back here for further announcements!
