As an ardent admirer of Moby, I find myself utterly captivated by his unwavering dedication to animal rights and veganism. His life story is a testament to the power of conviction, and his actions serve as a beacon for those who wish to make a difference in this world.

He’s well-recognized for his fierce advocacy on behalf of animal welfare, as he has maintained a vegan lifestyle for 37 years.

Now, the American artist Moby has disclosed that it was his manager who ultimately persuaded him to resume touring after many years of attempts – by tugging at his emotional heartstrings.

59-year-old Moby, also known as Richard Melville Hall, consented to embark on a tour exclusively for the purpose of donating all proceeds to organizations advocating for animal welfare.

Over the past few years, my manager has consistently encouraged me to embark on tours, suggesting potential perks like lucrative paydays and the allure of performing on stage, as I shared with the Sunday Mirror.

He came to understand that there was nothing he could refuse when it came to donating all his funds to organizations advocating for animal rights.

Moby expresses strong opposition to animal cruelty vehemently. Earlier, he criticized the practice of wearing fur as “distasteful, unnecessary, and outdated.

He added: ‘You see people wearing fur and it’s like advertising to the world that you’re a f***ing psychopath.’

His fervor for animal rights is intense to the point where he’s adorned his body with tattoos inspired by activism.

Just to the side of his right eye is a small tattoo of a ‘V’ stacked over an ‘X.’

2019 saw Moby clarify on Instagram to his puzzled followers that the ‘V’ symbolized veganism, a lifestyle choice where one avoids all animal-derived products like dairy and eggs. The ‘X’, meanwhile, signified his adherence to ‘straight edge’, a term representing his personal decision to abstain from both drugs and alcohol.

He clarified that he needed to stay sober since being ill or hungover until late afternoon wouldn’t allow him to effectively carry out his activist duties.

I choose a vegan lifestyle out of compassion for animals, concern for human well-being, addressing climate change, preserving rainforests, advocating for worker’s rights, conserving water resources, combating hunger, and standing against all the distressing consequences linked to animal agriculture.

During that period, he unveiled a pair of substantial tattoos on his arms, which were written in capital block letters and conveyed the message: “Animal Rights.

The performer also has a huge neck tattoo which says: ‘Vegan for life.’

In the past, Richard Melville Hall, better known as Moby, elevated his commitment to veganism by establishing Little Pine, a well-loved vegetarian eatery, nestled within Los Angeles’ Silver Lake community.

Nevertheless, the location faced strife with its employees due to a lack of attention towards their healthcare benefits during the temporary closure of the restaurant at the onset of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic. This was reported by Eater Los Angeles, who also mentioned that the owner remained unresponsive.

In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I must share an update about Little Pine – the eatery I’ve long admired. After a brief hiatus in 2020, Moby gracefully stepped down as a co-owner, allowing new management to take the helm. However, it seems that last year, the restaurant quietly bid us adieu. It’s always a bittersweet moment when we lose such a unique culinary gem from our scene.

Previously a restaurant owner who’s widely recognized as a musician, this year saw him debut a film – written, directed, filmed, and scored by himself – titled “Punk Rock Vegan Movie”.

This documentary about real life events explores the unexpected links and intersections between punk culture, vegetarianism, and advocacy for animal welfare.

At the movie festival held in Utah, he expressed his intention to make the movie available for free post-premiere because, being primarily a work born out of affection and advocacy, he felt it wouldn’t sit right with him to earn profits from it.
