Paddy Considine’s thriller, *Dead Man’s Shoes*, is showing on TV tonight. The 2004 film centers on Richard, a soldier, and his quest for revenge after his brother Anthony, who has a learning disability, was mistreated by drug dealers.
Richard returned to his hometown and started systematically hunting down the gang members who had wronged him. He used fear and violence to get his revenge, targeting them one after another.
However, Richard’s dangerous mission quickly gets out of hand, and he must face the consequences of his choices with assistance from a surprising ally.

Looking for a thrilling movie tonight? *Dead Man’s Shoes* is on Film4 this Monday, September 29th, at 10:50 PM. If you miss it, or prefer to watch another time, it will also be available on Channel 4’s streaming service after it airs on TV.
So, I was checking out the cast list for *MobLand*, and it’s awesome! Not only does Stephen Considine play the main character, but he actually helped write the script with Paul Fraser and the director, Shaun Meadows. And get this – Toby Kebbell from *Fantastic Four*, boxer Gary Stretch, Stuart Wolfenden who I remember from *Hollyoaks*, Neil Bell from *Downton Abbey*, and Jo Hartley from *Adolescence* are all in it too! Seriously, a great lineup of actors.

Although *Empire Magazine* called *Dead Man’s Shoes* “disturbing, uncompromising, and completely gripping,” the film generally received mixed reviews from critics.
The film currently has a 60% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 48 reviews. The New York Post praised its “powerful climax.”

According to *The Times*, director Tom Meadows truly deserves the nickname ‘Scorsese of the Midlands’ due to the intense and shocking violence in his films. They also highlighted actor Stephen Graham Considine, comparing his performance to Robert De Niro, and describing him as deeply unsettling.
According to *The Observer*, *Dead Man’s Shoes* is a skillfully crafted and emotionally powerful film. It’s reminiscent of classic Westerns by Sam Peckinpah that explore themes of revenge and taking the law into one’s own hands.
According to *Variety*, the film feels like a playfully odd British take on American slasher and revenge westerns, but it lacks the deep psychological elements typically found in director Meadows’ work.
According to FilmFocus, the movie feels like two separate, mismatched films awkwardly combined into a single, disjointed experience.
Dead Man’s Shoes airs tonight (29 September) at 10.50pm on Film4 and will stream on Channel 4.
