Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Balance Changes, Major Battlefield and attribute Adjustments and more
Story Highlights
- New Balance changes for heroes in the Advanced Server!
- New Battlefield effects are underway in the server.
The newest update for Mobile Legends, version 1.9.78, delves into significant balance alterations for our heroes, following recent adjustments made on the Advanced Server. As Kimmy received an overhaul and was launched on the main server on April 22nd, 2025, we can expect a revamped Gloo to follow suit soon on the same server. This update also includes substantial modifications to Battlefield Effects, as well as some attribute improvements. Let’s dive deep into the details of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Patch 1.9.78 Update.
In the latest update, the developers have improved the Resilience trait to shorten the time period affected by Airborne control abilities. Simultaneously, they’ve lowered the amount of Resilience offered by specific equipment.
Furthermore, developers are diminishing the Heal Reduction impact from gear, leading to a significant disparity in performance among heroes that heavily depend on healing. This discrepancy is influenced by whether the enemy chooses equipment with this effect.
Revamped Hero: Swamp Spirits – Gloo

In Mobile Legends Battle Arena (MLBA), Gloo transforms into several ethereal entities, functioning as a Tank figure. Once its ability is upgraded, it can link with an adversary hero, causing harm to be inflicted upon the bound hero instead.
Passive – Stick, Stick
Whenever an enemy is struck by Gloo’s abilities, they accumulate a layer of Sludge (or Adhesive), slowing their movement. For each layer of Sludge on an enemy, the amount of damage they can inflict on Gloo is lessened.
Skill 1 – Slam, Slam
When Gloo strikes the ground forcefully, it causes harm and leaves behind a Puddle. Over time, this Puddle detonates, inflicting damage and causing nearby foes to be immobilized. If Gloo comes into contact with the Puddle, the Puddle will detonate prematurely, resetting its cooldown period.
Skill 2 – Spread, Spread
Gloo inflicts harm and momentarily stuns adversaries within a cone-like region ahead of it, followed by splitting into several smaller Goos that keep on causing damage to any enemies they come across. If a Goo is hit, the original Gloo will move towards it, pulling enemies along in its wake for a certain distance.
Ultimate – Grab, Grab
With its maximum number of adhesive layers, or “Sticky attachments”, Gloo can bond to an adversary’s hero. Upon binding, it quickly restores a substantial amount of health. In this state, Gloo’s basic attacks transform into magical damage inflicted on the host. While still connected, Gloo additionally passes a small portion of the damage it sustains onto the host.
Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Hero Balance Changes
Kalea (Nerfed)
After making changes related to resilience, this trait now shortens the duration of most airborne control abilities (with the exception of Kalea’s). To maintain balance, developers plan to make adjustments that weaken Kalea in other areas.
Passive (↓)
Devs have removed the knockback effect from the first Enhanced Basic Attack.
Skill 2 (↓)
Leaping Distance after Colliding with an Obstacle during Charge: 5 >> 4.5
Ultimate (↓)
Slamming Distance: 5.5 >> 5
Lylia (Buffed)

Developers aim for The Ultimate to be more effective in emergency situations, providing a valuable survival tool. Simultaneously, they’ve made efforts to equalize the usage rate of skills across both the beginning and end stages of the game. Furthermore, they’ve decreased the variance in Gloom’s destructive power between different levels.
Skill 2 (↑)
- Cooldown: 9.8-5s >> 6s at all levels
- Damage: 220-370 + 100% of Magic Power >> 220-430 + 115% of Total Magic Power Gloom Damage Growth per Level: 30% >> 20%
Ultimate (↑)
New Effect: Removes debuffs from self when casting this skill.
Kadita (Buffed)
As a dedicated fan, I’ve found that the control flow for each skill has been finely tuned to create a smoother and more enjoyable experience when linking combos together.
Skill 1 (~)
- Dashing Speed: 10 > 8
- Mana Cost: 80-130 >> 55-80
Skill 2 (↑)
- Airborne Delay: 1.1s >> 0.8s
- Mana Cost: 90-140 >> 75-100
Ultimate (↑)
Foreswing: 0.7s >> 0.5s
There are other major adjustments which has come recently in the Advanced Server.
Yi Sun-shin (Buffed)
As a character resembling an Assassin, Yi Sun-shin’s approach in battle doesn’t align perfectly with his designated role. His capacity for securing kills during the early-to-mid game has been fairly limited, making it necessary for him to focus on swift resource farming to gain a financial advantage and ultimately dominate the match.

In an effort to boost his ability to deal burst damage, the developers have overhauled his ultimate ability entirely. Additionally, they’ve fine-tuned the control mechanics of all his other skills for a smoother user experience.
Valir (Buffed)
Currently, Valir’s Ultimate offers a significant boost in damage and removes debuffs. The developers have simplified this ability by eliminating the damage-enhancement feature but enhancing his Passive Damage instead.
Developers have not only optimized the control aspect of Skill 1, but they’ve also boosted its effectiveness for clearing lanes and engaging in combat during the middle to late stages of the game.
Gord (Buffed)
Since Gord is a Mage character, it’s crucial for players to concentrate on building up his Passive skill. To achieve this, the developers have taken away the Basic Attack’s capacity to stack and activate the Passive. Instead, they have boosted Skill 2’s attack speed and number of hits, as well as extending the reach of the Ultimate ability.
Natan (Buffed)

Developers intend to enhance the efficiency of Natan’s Basic Attack interactions. This improvement allows Natan to launch follow-up Basic Attacks faster following skill usage and manage his Passive stacks more effortlessly in prolonged battles. To maintain equilibrium, the developers have slightly decreased Natan’s Base Attack speed and Passive duration base value.
Clint (Buffed)
Developers discovered that in the present update, Clint is not strong during the early stages of the game and does not deal sufficient damage in the later stages.
As a result, developers have boosted his early to mid-game control in the laning phase. Additionally, they’ve decreased his late-game single-shot destructive power, but amplified his ability to deal damage quickly throughout a shorter duration.
Granger (Nerfed)
Granger’s sequential, extended-reach attack damage and high agility make him challenging to oppose. Developers are adjusting these traits, but they’re also boosting the immediate damage output of his individual strikes as compensation.
Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Battlefield and System Adjustments
Major Adjustments (Battlefield Effect Test)
The 2025 version of the “New Battlefield” experiences is returning! Developers will carry on refining the gameplay, characteristics, and graphical aspects. This time around, two fresh “Battlefield Effects” will undergo testing.
The battlefield effect rules are as follows:
- The battlefield effect gameplay is only available in Pick and Ban matches in the Ranked mode, and the battlefield effect for each match is random.
- After matchmaking is successful, you’ll be notified of the battlefield effect for the current match. The battlefield effect description can still be viewed during the Pick and Ban phase.
- The battlefield effect will activate immediately when the match starts and remain active until the end of the match.
The Battlefield Effects tested in this patch are as follows:
- Danger at Every Turn: Existing bushes on the map are extended and new ones are added, providing more opportunities for ambush.
- Free Roaming: Two rapid movement devices have been added near the Base, enabling quick returns to lanes or flanking enemies during Base defence.
- Rushing Torrent: The River’s speed-up effect now extends into parts of the Jungle Area. When the Turtle/Lord is alive, the river will permanently flow toward their location, making it easier for heroes to participate in contests for the neutral map objectives.
- Boulder Shatter: Multiple obstacles on the map become thinned or broken, making them easier to pass through. Heroes without movement skills can now move more freely.
Ling will be unavailable at this time.
Mayhem Mode
From May 2nd through June 15th, 2025, MAYHEM mode returns! In this timeframe, players can utilize for free the collaborative skins between MLBB and NARUTO for characters such as Hayabusa, Vale, Suyou, Lukas, and Kalea, exclusively within MAYHEM mode.
