Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Balance Changes, Major Battlefield and attribute Adjustments and more

Story Highlights

  • New Balance changes for heroes in the Advanced Server!
  • New Battlefield effects are underway in the server.

The most recent update for Mobile Legends, version 1.9.78, delves into significant hero balance tweaks following the modifications made on the Advanced Server. Notably, Kimmy was given a facelift and officially launched on the Main Server on April 22nd, 2025. Soon after, Gloo will undergo the same revamp process and be unveiled on the Main Server as well. This update introduces significant Battlefield Effect Adjustments, in addition to improved attributes. Let’s take a closer look at the changes brought about by Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Patch 1.9.78.

In this latest version, the developers have increased the effectiveness of the Resilience trait to shorten the time period of Airborne control impacts. Simultaneously, they’ve lowered the level of Resilience offered by specific gear.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that developers are making an adjustment to the game balance by decreasing the impact of the Healing Reduction effect from equipment. This change has significantly widened the performance disparity among heroes who heavily depend on healing abilities. The difference in performance is noticeable depending on whether the enemies acquire gear with this specific effect.

Revamped Hero: Swamp Spirits – Gloo

In Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Gloo is a character that transforms into several spirit-like duplicates of itself. Once its skills have been built up, it can connect with an opposing hero and divert harm to the bonded entity.

Passive – Stick, Stick

Every time I clobber enemies with my skills, they pick up a layer of Goo, slowing them down. The more layers of Goo on an enemy, the less damage they can dish out to me.

Skill 1 – Slam, Slam

As I stretch my digital arm, I smash down onto the game world with force, causing a blast that harms nearby foes and leaves a puddle of goo behind. After some time, that goo detonates, causing more damage and freezing enemies in its vicinity. Should I happen to step into that puddle, it’ll blow up prematurely, resetting the cooldown on my ability.

Skill 2 – Spread, Spread

Gloo inflicts harm and briefly stuns enemies within a fan-shaped zone in front of it, followed by splitting into several Goos that keep dealing damage to any enemies they come across. If Gloo’s skill connects with another Goo, it will power up and move towards it, pulling enemies along for a certain distance as well.

Ultimate – Grab, Grab

When Gloo reaches its maximum number of Sticky attachments to an adversary hero, it swiftly restores a substantial amount of health. In this bonded state, Gloo’s basic attacks transform into dealing magic damage to the host. Moreover, while still bound, Gloo also endures a portion of the harm it sustains and transfers it to the host.

Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Hero Balance Changes

Kalea (Nerfed)

After applying the Resilience changes, this characteristic now shortens the duration of most Airborne control influences, with the exception of Kalea. To maintain balance, developers will implement other adjustments to lessen the impact of Kalea.

Passive (↓)

Devs have removed the knockback effect from the first Enhanced Basic Attack.

Skill 2 (↓)

Leaping Distance after Colliding with an Obstacle during Charge: 5 >> 4.5

Ultimate (↓)

Slamming Distance: 5.5 >> 5

Lylia (Buffed)

As a gamer, I’m excited to see that the developers are working hard to improve the usefulness of the Ultimate skill for survival purposes. They’ve also managed to make the frequency of skills more balanced between early and late game, ensuring a fairer gaming experience. Additionally, they’ve adjusted the damage output of Gloom across levels, which should lead to more evenly matched encounters.

Skill 2 (↑)

  • Cooldown: 9.8-5s >> 6s at all levels
  • Damage: 220-370 + 100% of Magic Power >> 220-430 + 115% of Total Magic Power Gloom Damage Growth per Level: 30% >> 20%

Ultimate (↑)

New Effect: Removes debuffs from self when casting this skill.

Kadita (Buffed)

The fine-tuning of each skill’s control has been adjusted to enhance the smoothness when linking combos, providing a more comfortable user experience for her.

Skill 1 (~)

  • Dashing Speed: 10 > 8
  • Mana Cost: 80-130 >> 55-80

Skill 2 (↑)

  • Airborne Delay: 1.1s >> 0.8s
  • Mana Cost: 90-140 >> 75-100

Ultimate (↑)

Foreswing: 0.7s >> 0.5s

There are other major adjustments which has come recently in the Advanced Server.

Yi Sun-shin (Buffed)

In his role as an Assassin, Yi Sun-shin’s playstyle deviates from what is typically expected. His early to mid-game kill potential is rather low, which necessitates a heavy focus on rapid resource gathering to achieve an economic advantage and ultimately dominate the game.

To boost his ability to deal high damage quickly, the developers have significantly revamped his Ultimate skill. Moreover, they’ve fine-tuned the control mechanics for all his other abilities, improving overall gameplay experience.

Valir (Buffed)

it no longer increases damage but instead fortifies his passive damage infliction, making it more potent.

Developers have additionally optimized the control aspect of Skill 1, boosting both its efficiency in clearing lanes and combat effectiveness during the middle to late stages of the game.

Gord (Buffed)

In the game, since Gord is a Mage character, it’s important for players to concentrate on amplifying his Passive skill by using abilities. To facilitate this, developers have taken away the stacking and triggering capability of the Basic Attack when it comes to increasing the Passive. Instead, they’ve enhanced Skill 2 with more frequent attacks and multiple hits, as well as extending the reach of the Ultimate ability.

Natan (Buffed)

As a gamer, I’m excited to share that the developers are working on enhancing my in-game experience with Natan’s Basic Attacks. Now, I can follow up with my attacks more swiftly post-skill usage and keep my Passive stacks manageable even during lengthy battles. However, to ensure fair gameplay, they’ve slightly decreased my Base Attack and the base duration of my Passive ability.

Clint (Buffed)

In the latest update, I’ve noticed that my favorite character, Clint, seems to be struggling with both asserting himself during the early stages of gameplay and dishing out significant damage in the later phases.

Consequently, developers have improved his strong control in the initial to middle phases of lane play. Additionally, they’ve decreased his powerful single-shot damage in the late game, but boosted his overall damage capacity within a brief duration.

Granger (Nerfed)

Granger’s consistent long-range poking damage and high agility pose a challenge when trying to outmaneuver him. Developers plan to tone down these features, but they will boost his single attack’s burst damage as a trade-off.

Mobile Legends Patch 1.9.78 Update: Battlefield and System Adjustments

Major Adjustments (Battlefield Effect Test)

As an excited gamer, I can’t help but share the news that we’re getting a fresh update for the New Battlefield in 2025! The developers are working tirelessly to enhance gameplay, tweak attributes, and refine visual elements to give us an even more immersive experience. This time around, they’ve got two brand-new battlefield effects up their sleeves, which we’ll get to test out in the coming days. Can’t wait!

The battlefield effect rules are as follows:

  • The battlefield effect gameplay is only available in Pick and Ban matches in the Ranked mode, and the battlefield effect for each match is random.
  • After matchmaking is successful, you’ll be notified of the battlefield effect for the current match. The battlefield effect description can still be viewed during the Pick & Ban phase.
  • The battlefield effect will activate immediately when the match starts and remain active until the end of the match.

The Battlefield Effects tested in this patch are as follows:

  • Danger at Every Turn: Existing bushes on the map are extended and new ones are added, providing more opportunities for ambush.
  • Free Roaming: Two rapid movement devices have been added near the Base, enabling quick returns to lanes or flanking enemies during Base defence.
  • Rushing Torrent: The River’s speed-up effect now extends into parts of the Jungle Area. When the Turtle/Lord is alive, the river will permanently flow toward their location, making it easier for heroes to participate in contests for the neutral map objectives.
  • Boulder Shatter: Multiple obstacles on the map become thinned or broken, making them easier to pass through. Heroes without movement skills can now move more freely.

Ling will be unavailable at this time.

Mayhem Mode

The thrilling MAYHEM mode returns from May 2nd to June 15th, 2025! In this duration, players can enjoy using the special collaboration skins for Hayabusa, Vale, Suyou, Lukas, and Kalea in the MAYHEM mode at no cost. These skins are a blend of MLBB and NARUTO!
