Mobile Legends MPL ID and NBA partnership to open a door for synergy building and brand growth for esports
Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID) has teamed up with the National Basketball Association (NBA). This collaboration between two major entities aims to create a harmonious relationship and further develop the popularity of the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game.
At a recent press conference organized by MPL ID, questions were posed to two distinguished guests: Martinus Manurung, the Marketing & Business Development Lead for Indonesia Esports at MOONTON Games, and Jordan Adams, a former NBA player now playing for Dewa United Banten. These esteemed individuals shared valuable insights about the future plans of these brands, their growth strategies, and various other topics. The Mobile Legends Esports platform is currently running season 15 of MPL ID.
Mobile Legends MPL ID and NBA partnership to run for a long time; aims for growth
Partnering with the NBA has long been a strategic move for Indonesian athletes, given their affinity towards traditional sports. This collaboration not only strengthens our connection with basketball but also allows the prestige of the NBA to permeate into other sports in Indonesia.
From another perspective, the NBA finds itself in a rapidly expanding esports market, presenting a significant opportunity for growth. Both entities aim to create a beneficial partnership and learn from the experience, ultimately fostering a more resilient and lasting esports environment for their brand.

Jordan Adams expressed a very favorable outlook towards the partnership as well. He stated that it would be an exceptional prospect for all parties involved, and the new endeavor would progress swiftly. His existing team also holds substantial influence in Indonesia, and collaborating with the rapidly expanding company will provide ample opportunities to share and gain knowledge.
MLBB draws heavy inspiration from the NBA and leverages each other’s IP to grow together
GamingonPhone inquired about the source of inspiration for this joint project. Additionally, they were interested in understanding how this alliance supports each brand’s long-term expansion plans, particularly in Southeast Asia. Martinus shared that they have long been eager to study and apply the franchise model used by the NBA. Furthermore, both games share a similar gameplay format. As Martinus explained, “We often draw inspiration from traditional sports. They are team-based with defined roles and the goal is clearly defined.
As I’ve witnessed the impact and professionalism of the NBA, I can’t help but aspire for our game to emulate its influence on a whole generation. We aim to transcend beyond just being a game; we want it to become a lifestyle. Right now, we’re just starting out, but I believe the impact of the NBA will be immense in countries like the Philippines.

Additionally, we inquired about potential partnerships involving organizations such as MotoGP, English Premier League teams, and so forth. It appears that discussions are underway with various franchises regarding potential collaborations. Therefore, it’s possible that exciting collaborations will materialize in the future, though specific details will have to be revealed when they become available.
From a passionate fan’s perspective, I can’t help but marvel at the prestige of the NBA, one of the world’s premier professional sports leagues with deep roots in North America. Yet, the mobile gaming realm has seen a dynamic shift, as Mobile Legends Esports has emerged as a frontrunner in mobile esports. This titan is not only challenging the dominance of top-tier PC games but also other platform-based titles. Consequently, the alliance between Mobile Legends MPL ID and the NBA promises to yield a mutually beneficial outcome for both parties, paving the way for Mobile Legends Esports to maintain its upward trajectory in the competitive world of esports.
