Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a constantly updated mobile MOBA game where smart strategy and choosing the right heroes are essential for winning. Knowing which heroes are strong against others – called ‘hero counters’ – is a vital skill. It lets you take advantage of your opponents’ weaknesses and help your team play its best. This guide will teach you about hero counters in Mobile Legends, offering helpful tips on how to effectively counter different heroes.
What are counters?
In Mobile Legends, “counters” are heroes that are strong against specific opponents, able to disrupt their strategies and limit their effectiveness. While certain items and decisions can also act as counters, this guide will focus specifically on how heroes counter each other.
These heroes are really good at taking advantage of what other heroes struggle with, which can heavily impact battles. Knowing which heroes are strong against others is essential for winning in Mobile Legends.
Counters to Hero properties
Mobility
Heroes who can’t move easily are vulnerable, making it crucial to stop opponents from dashing or teleporting. Khufra is a particularly strong, though difficult, tank because he’s one of the only heroes – besides Minsitthar – with an ability that completely shuts down enemy movement skills.
Khufra is a great pick because he can disrupt enemies and offers both strong defense and a strategic edge. Phoveus is another good option; he’s able to shorten his ability cooldowns and activate his ultimate by cleverly using the dash attacks of his opponents. Together, these heroes can effectively counter fast-moving assassins like Lancelot, Gusion, and Fanny.
Minsitthar’s Ultimate (King’s Calling)

As a huge fan, I’ve discovered that his ultimate is amazing! You rush forward and summon four Royal Guards to create a zone around you. They stay put, but they relentlessly attack anyone caught inside, dealing damage based on your attack power – it’s a significant boost! Plus, enemies trapped in the zone are slowed down by 20% and, crucially, they can’t teleport or dash away – they’re totally locked in!
Khufra’s Skill 2 (Bouncing Ball)

Playing as Khufra, you can activate a bandage ability that turns you into a bouncy ball, boosting your physical and magic defenses. If enemies try to teleport or dash through you while you’re in this form, they’ll be launched into the air.
Projectiles, DPS & AoE
When it comes to defending against ranged attacks, Lolita is the best option thanks to her ability that blocks projectiles. This makes her a great choice against damage dealers like Marksmen and Mages, protecting her team from threats such as Granger’s shots or Chang’e’s ultimate ability.

When it comes to protecting teammates from significant, direct damage – not from ranged attacks – Estes really shines as a support hero. His ultimate ability greatly improves the team’s ability to stay alive, and if built with the right items, he can use it often, providing a constant boost to health that can make the team incredibly resilient.
Belerick is a champion at consistently dealing damage over time, making him a tough opponent. He’s particularly effective against Marksmen heroes like Claude, Hanabi, and Obsidia, who will struggle if they try to attack him. Using the Blade Armor item with Belerick makes countering these heroes even easier.
Lolita’s Skill 2 (Guardian’s Reflection)

As Lolita, you can raise your shield to reflect all incoming ranged basic attacks and projectiles for 3 seconds. However, any unique passive effects from the attacker’s items won’t affect the shield or be reflected back.
Belerick’s Passive (Deadly Thorns)

Belerick has a chance to automatically attack the closest enemy with Magic Damage every time he takes 50 damage. This attack can happen up to every 0.4 seconds. Additionally, he gains a 30% bonus to his maximum HP from items and emblems.
Durability
Heroes can all use items to break through enemy defenses, but some are especially good at quickly defeating tough, tanky opponents. Two types of damage are particularly effective against these robust targets. First, True Damage ignores all enemy defenses, allowing heroes like Karrie to easily take down tanks. While increasing health can help reduce damage, Karrie’s ability to bypass defenses makes her uniquely powerful against them.
Damage that’s based on an enemy’s total health can also be very effective. While defenses can lower this damage, some heroes – like Lunox, Wanwan, and Valir – are better at taking down tough, high-health enemies than others.
Karrie’s Passive (Lightwheel Mark)

Karrie’s attacks and abilities apply a stacking effect called Lightwheel Mark. When a target has five stacks of this mark, it transforms into a Lightwheel, inflicting significant, unblocked damage.
Valir’s Passive (Ashing)

Valir’s abilities mark enemies with a burning effect called ‘Ablaze’. Each hit adds a stack, and after three stacks, the fire explodes, dealing significant magic damage and briefly stunning the target for one second.
Crowd Control
As a player, I’ve noticed that controlling the crowd – or ‘CC’ – is super important if you want to win. Luckily, some heroes are naturally good at dodging or escaping those control effects, so they don’t even need the Purify spell! For example, heroes like Kagura and Wanwan have abilities that work a lot like Purify, letting them break free. Masha is really interesting – she actually becomes totally immune to CC when she’s almost dead, down to just one HP bar! And then there’s Chou and Ling, who can briefly shrug off CC while they’re using certain skills, which makes them really hard to pin down.
Okay, so when my team really needs to avoid being stunned, slowed, or otherwise messed with, Diggie is my go-to guy. His ultimate is amazing – it basically gives everyone around him a temporary ‘get out of jail free’ card for crowd control. Seriously, it can completely turn the tide of a team fight!

Diggie’s Ultimate (Time Journey)
Diggie eliminates all negative effects from nearby allied heroes—including himself—and provides them with a shield and immunity to control effects for 3 seconds. He also receives a temporary boost to movement speed for 0.5 seconds.
HP and Shield Regeneration
Most heroes stay alive using shields or healing, but Baxia offers a new way to deal with enemies who quickly recover health. His special ability stops enemies from regenerating and also gives him a speed boost when he hits them, making him great at disrupting fights. Esmeralda takes a different approach – instead of stopping healing or shields, she actually takes enemy shields for herself.
Baxia’s Passive (Baxia Mark)
Baxia permanently gains the “Baxia Mark,” which lowers the damage he takes by 25%. Additionally, when Baxia hits enemies with his skills, he cuts their shield recovery and health regeneration in half for 4 seconds.

Esmeralda’s Skill 1 (Frostmoon Shield)

Esmeralda gets a shield and a significant boost to her movement speed for 4 seconds, though the speed boost fades over time. She can also convert shields from nearby enemies into her own, up to a maximum of 50% of her total health.
