Moana 2 tipped to outperform Inside Out 2 at box office amid fan frenzy over sequel

As a lifestyle expert who has been following the trends of the film industry for over three decades, I must say that the upcoming release of Moana 2 is generating quite a buzz! With its impressive pre-orders and the promising predictions from AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron, it seems we are in store for another box office sensation.

Weeks ahead of its November 27 release, Moana 2 is predicted to thrive at the box office.

According to the deadline set, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron mentioned during a quarterly earnings conference that some sources hint at Moana 2 potentially surpassing and shining brighter than even the success achieved by Inside Out 2.

Following earlier announcements of the Moana sequel outperforming this year’s animation movie sales records on its opening day, it appears that only Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked, and Dune: Part 2 are ahead in terms of ticket pre-orders.

The upcoming movie is projected to earn over $100 million during the Thanksgiving weekend, from Wednesday to Sunday.

So far, Inside Out 2 is the highest-grossing film of 2024, with over $1.6 billion in global sales.

In early October Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to Instagram to tease the Moana follow-up.

Sharing with his massive 395 million audience, the 52-year-old entertainer unveiled the newest film and its trailer.

A different post expressed, ‘Is it possible to have a cheerful yelp!? As you can sense, Moana 2 is nearly upon us. We’d like to share a unique glimpse into the extraordinary voyage across and within the ocean that we’ll embark on together.’

‘THANK YOU for all of the excitement around the world for #Moana2. It’s almost time to set sail.’

He signed off, ‘See you in theaters November 27th ~ Maui, out.’

It was revealed back in February that a new Moana movie is on the horizon, and there are discussions underway for 23-year-old Auli’i Cravalho to reprise her role as the cherished heroine, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson potentially returning as Maui.

Then, in August it was confirmed that they both would reprise their roles.

In the follow-up, which is set three years after the 2016 film, Moana embarks on a wide-ranging voyage to explore lands beyond the coast of Motunui, as described in the plot summary.

In company with Maui and an unconventional band of sailors, Moana embarks on a voyage to the vast oceans of Oceania, navigating perilous, forgotten waters for an escapade that surpasses any challenge she has previously encountered.

In addition to Rachel House portraying Moana’s grandmother Tala, Temuera Morrison takes on the role of Moana’s father Chief Tui, while Nicole Scherzinger becomes Moana’s mother Sina. Joining them are Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo, who play various characters, as well as Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey, and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda, who bring life to Moana’s little sister Simea.

Moana 2 was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller.
