Moana 2 stars explain surprise Moana reveal
As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich and vibrant worlds of various games, I must say that Moana 2 has truly outdone itself in creating an engaging and captivating narrative. The intricate blend of adventure, humor, and cultural significance is something that I’ve seldom come across in my gaming escapades.
Moana 2 spoilers follow.
Dwayne Johnson and Auli’i Cravalho have explained the surprise tattoo reveal in Moana 2.
In a new Disney story, we join Moana (Cravalho) once more for a sea-bound journey. This time, she’s guided by a summons from Tautai Vasa, leading her on a quest to discover the hidden underwater isle called Motufetu.
As a devotee, I found myself perilously close to the brink of death after shattering Nalo’s tempestuous enchantment. But fortunately, Maui (Johnson) and my ancestors swooped in like guardian angels, restoring vitality to this valiant soul. Awakening from my slumber, I marveled at a fresh ink marking on my skin – a symbol of the majestic mountain ranges and celestial constellations above Motufetu.
In Polynesian tradition, tattoos carry deep symbolism, often depicting a person’s lineage, personal story, or tribal folklore. The fresh tattoo on Moana was initially spotted on a shard of pottery, sparking the beginning of her adventure.
So, what exactly does the magical tattoo symbolise?
In a somewhat humorous twist, rather than explicitly stating it, Johnson thinks that by implication, Moana might have earned the status of a demigod in the movie.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor expressed his belief that it’s likely she transforms into a demigod. He also shared his appreciation for the way the storyline was developed and written.
Cravalho highlighted that her character Moana had been bestowed a fresh title, now known as Tautai, which signifies a skilled navigator, according to her explanation.
She expressed her appreciation for the portrayal of Indigenous history in movies, adding that while she didn’t want to give away too many spoilers, Moana’s title seems to change throughout the story. She wondered if Moana is a princess, a Tautai, or something else entirely.
In the meantime, it was verified by the film’s joint writer and director, Dana Ledoux Miller, that Moana’s tattoo symbolizes her semi-divine status. However, he hinted mysteriously, “We haven’t fully uncovered what this might mean for her future just yet.
Moana 2 is out now in cinemas.
