Working with Polymarket lets us offer fans a new way to interact with the league through prediction markets, and helps MLS become a frontrunner in how global soccer leagues engage with fans.
Major League Soccer (MLS) has partnered with Polymarket, making it the official prediction market for both MLS and Leagues Cup.
MLS and Polymarket partnership
Major League Soccer (MLS) announced a new partnership with Polymarket on January 26th. Through its commercial division, Soccer United Marketing (SUM), MLS will work with Polymarket to create interactive digital experiences for fans during MLS and Leagues Cup matches. These experiences, similar to those offered by online casinos, are designed to boost fan engagement both during live games and on devices like phones and tablets.
Shayne Coplan, who leads Polymarket, notes that as soccer becomes more popular in the US, fans are looking for fresh and innovative ways to connect with the sport.
We’re working with MLS and Leagues Cup to understand what fans are feeling in real-time – during important plays, throughout matches, and as the season unfolds. This will give fans a more engaging and data-rich way to enjoy the game and connect with the sport they love.
MLS builds on soccer momentum and 2026 FIFA World Cup
Gary Stevenson, who is a deputy commissioner for MLS and the president of SUM, also commented on the partnership.
MLS is always looking for new ways to connect with fans and improve the league. This partnership with Polymarket lets us try out prediction markets – a new type of fan experience – and helps MLS stay at the forefront of innovation in global soccer.
As a huge soccer fan, I was really excited to hear about this partnership! It’s great to know they’re taking steps to make sure all the games are fair with independent monitoring. And it sounds like MLS and Leagues Cup are planning to ride the wave of excitement around the 2026 World Cup to bring in even more fans – which is awesome!
