MLBB M6 Knockout stage: Battles for the World Champions glory

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of esports, I must say that the journey of these teams at the M6 World Championship is nothing short of inspiring. It’s fascinating to see how each team navigated through the Swiss stage, with some experiencing victories from the get-go while others had to fight tooth and nail for their place in the Knockout stage.

Among eight competing teams in the MLBB M6 Finals, only a single team will be crowned as the Mobile Legends World Champions!

The Swiss stage showcased 16 top-tier teams worldwide, each fighting tooth and nail to endure this marathon-like tournament. However, none of these stages could match the intensity and grandeur displayed in the M6 Knockout stage of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports competition.

Upper quarter-finals (Bo3): MLBB M6 matchups

In the M6 Knockout phase, all the qualified teams begin from the upper-bracket quarterfinals. Those who lose can still fight for another opportunity following these contests.

As an ardent supporter of Falcon Esports, I’m thrilled to share that we clinched our first victory at the MLBB M6 Championship Playoffs following a nail-biting match against NIP Flash! Game 1 was a tight battle, but our players exhibited unwavering confidence and outplayed their opponents in Game 2. The victory is truly a testament to their skill and determination!

In Game 1 against Selangor Red Giants, Fnatic ONIC PH clinched victory with an impressive 26 kills, yet the advantage didn’t seem overwhelming during the match. The opponents displayed resilience and fought till the end. However, it was a decisive battle near the Lord that ultimately tipped the scales in favor of Fnatic ONIC PH. In Game 2, Fnatic ONIC PH maintained a nearly identical kill advantage (22-7), but they secured this lead earlier in the game and bravely sieged their opponents’ base, leading to its destruction by Fnatic ONIC PH.

In the intense matchup between RRQ Hoshi and Team Vamos, I found myself on the edge of my seat for every second. It wasn’t until minute 21 that RRQ Hoshi managed to secure a hard-fought victory in our initial encounter. However, Team Vamos came back strong in the following game with a lightning-fast win. But here’s where the story gets interesting – after their swift retaliation, RRQ Hoshi rallied back and ultimately emerged victorious in the series.

In game 1, Team Liquid dominated across several areas such as map choice, tempo, team skirmishes, and so forth, securing a convincing victory. It seemed like Team Spirit might retaliate in game 2, as they amassed an initial slight advantage that persisted until approximately the 10-minute mark. However, Team Liquid then masterfully seized a Lord battle, claimed the objective, and launched a powerful assault, ultimately triumphing once more in this match.

Upper semi-finals

Following victories in the initial rounds, four Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports squads progress to the upper bracket semifinals. These teams then compete against each other for a chance at two slots in the upper final.

Fnatic ONIC PH vs Falcon Esports

In Game 1, Fnatic ONIC PH claimed victory swiftly. Around minute 11, they launched a bold assault, ultimately eliminating all opponents. However, in Game 2, Fnatic ONIC PH required more time to secure the win. The Fnatic team meticulously farmed their advantage in Game 2, strengthening themselves for an ultimate strike. Leveraging the aid of the Lord, they successfully invaded Falcon’s base during this offensive.

Falcon Esports don’t typically surrender in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports battles quickly. Instead, they showed their strength and dominance in game 3. Despite not having a significant kill advantage, the Falcon players initiated a siege and emerged victorious. Game 4 was also in favor of Falcon Esports, although it lasted longer. The team capitalized on their advantage effectively, waited for their Heroes to gain super powers, and at the opportune moment, they demolished Fnatic’s base.

In this crucial match, both teams engaged in fierce battles. Fnatic ONIC PH seized an early lead and exercised caution with their offensive pushes to preserve their strength. Falcon Esports responded valiantly; they thwarted one Lord siege attempt, and managed to secure some strategic kills. However, following another team skirmish, Fnatic eliminated four opponents and emerged victorious. As a result, Fnatic ONIC PH progressed to the upper final.

RRQ Hoshi vs Team Liquid ID

In the initial stages of MLBB M6’s upper semifinals, Team Liquid ID kicked off games 1 and 2 with a high level of aggression. They made an early move on RRQ Hoshi’s side, grabbing control points swiftly. This proactive approach paid off in game 1, leading to a quick victory for TL ID. After securing the second Lord, they initiated a siege and, despite encountering some rough fights, managed to emerge victorious.

In the second game, RRQ Hoshi appeared to have a more coordinated strategy during team battles, while Team Liquid ID opted against taking early risks in pushing. However, during an exceptionally chaotic fight for the fourth Lord, Team Liquid ID managed to overpower RRQ Hoshi, securing the objective and moving closer to victory.

In games three and four, RRQ Hoshi played exceptionally well. Team Liquid struggled to catch up with the gold and level advantage of their opponents. In game three, RRQ Hoshi captured three Turtles and the first Lord. They won an early team fight, wiping out Team Liquid and surviving throughout the match. In game four, RRQ Hoshi rapidly emerged as a formidable force in team fights. They easily claimed the second Lord and later destroyed Team Liquid’s base following this.

In game 5, RRQ Hoshi didn’t perform a full reversal sweep, however. Initially, the game was balanced, but eventually, Team Liquid took control. They maintained the lead throughout the prolonged contest, gradually outmaneuvering their opponents. Following the destruction of all Inhibitor turrets and the capture of the fourth Lord, Team Liquid emerged victorious in the match, securing a place at the upper-bracket final of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports M6 World Championship.

Mobile Legends esports teams at the M6 World Championship: Knockout stage

To reach the MLBB M6 Finals, each of the eight teams needed to progress past the Swiss round. Here’s a brief summary of their competition journey.

3-0 teams: RRQ Hoshi and Fnatic ONIC PH

Both these teams experienced only victories during the Swiss stage.

  • RRQ Hoshi defeated KeepBest Gaming and Team Spirit in the starting Bo1 rounds. Their qualification match was against Twisted Minds — RRQ Hoshi recovered from the lost game 1 to win two quick and super confident decisive games.
  • Fnatic ONIC PH had a pretty similar run. Their Bo1 opponents were Team Liquid ID and CFU Gaming. In the qualification match, Fnatic ONIC PH defeated BloodThirstyKings.

3:1 teams: Falcon Esports, NIP Flash, and Team Spirit

One loss might be seen as additional learning opportunity for these teams, given that they managed to advance to the MLBB M6 Knockout round despite it.

  • Falcon Esports lost the Bo1 Round 2 match against Twisted Minds. The Bo1 wins for the team are vs Aurora and Selangor Red Giants. The qualification match was against BloodThirstyKings — and it was a great recovery by Falcon Esports.
  • NIP Flash lost their opening match against CFU Gaming, but they had no other losses in the Swiss stage after that. The victims of this team are Aurora, S2G Esports, and Twisted Minds (in the qualification match of Round 4).
  • Team Spirit players were defeated by RRQ Hoshi in Round 1, but they won two other Bo1 matches: against Maycam Evolve and Team Liquid ID. The qualification match vs CFU Gaming was rather difficult, but Team Spirit still won it.

3:2 teams:

At the M6 Swiss stage, these MLBB esports teams held out with the longest passes throughout all five rounds. It wasn’t until their final matches that they were able to advance and secure a spot in the Knockout stage.

  • Team Vamos started the Swiss stage with a loss against Twisted Minds. They won a Bo1 round 2 vs Maycam Evolve but then experienced another loss: to CFU Gaming. The Malaysian team came back brilliantly after that. They destroyed their final opponents, S2G Esports and BloodThirstyKings, to qualify for the Knockout stage.
  • Team Liquid ID also had a back-and-forth experience during the M6 Swiss stage. They lost their opening match vs Fnatic ONIC PH and round 3 match vs Team Spirit. But Team Liquid ID defeated ULFHEDNAR and Aurora to reach the decisive battle. In round 5, they confidently won over Twisted Minds and qualified for the MLBB M6 Knockout stage.
  • Selangor Red Giants lost Bo1 matches vs S2G Esports and Falcon Esports, but wins over ULFHEDNAR and KeepBest Gaming allowed SRG reached the round 5 of the Swiss stage. That match vs CFU Gaming was intense, and the victory of Selangor Red Giants was absolutely epic!
