Mistfall Hunter looks like legally distinct Elden Ring but with a faster paced, extraction spin

Mistfall Hunter initially looks very similar to games like Elden Ring, especially in short clips โ€“ it has that same dark fantasy style with splashes of color. However, unlike many games that copy the ‘Souls-like’ formula, Mistfall Hunter tries something different by incorporating elements of the ‘extraction’ genre.

This game retains the challenging difficulty known from Souls-like titles. The trailer showcases quick dodging, precise parrying, and diverse character classes โ€“ some specializing in close combat, others in magic, with plenty of customization options within each. Combat appears faster-paced than typical FromSoftware games, feeling less slow and deliberate.

Mistfall Hunter – Launch Gameplay Trailer

The core of the game revolves around a scavenging loop where you search for Gyldenblood and relics, all while trying to escape with your life. It’s a mix of player-versus-environment and player-versus-player combat, meaning you’ll face both challenging monsters and other players who might attack after you’ve already fought a difficult enemy. Staying alert is crucial! You can play alone or with a team of up to three players, so consider teaming up with friends if you usually avoid player battles in Souls-like games.

The game seems designed to evolve with regular updates. According to its Steam page, the environment will change over time, introducing new character classes, magical abilities, areas to explore, and powerful items โ€“ all intended to keep gameplay exciting and competitive. This approach is similar to other popular ‘extraction’ games, but it remains to be seen if fans of challenging ‘soulslike’ games will embrace this style of ongoing content.

Mistfall Hunter is launching very soon โ€“ on July 30th! You can add it to your Steam wishlist here.
