One Day lovers have something to look forward to! Netflix has just dropped the official trailer for People We Meet on Vacation, featuring Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Emily Bader (My Lady Jane). This upcoming romantic comedy, based on the popular book by Emily Henry, is scheduled to be released on January 9, 2026.
Completely different personalities – carefree Poppy (Bader) and highly organised Alex (Blyth) – have been best friends for ten years, always spending their summers together. But as they embark on their newest trip, they start to question whether their connection could be something more than just friendship.
After the trailer was released, viewers flooded the comments section with praise for Blyth and Bader’s performances, calling them “perfect.” One fan wrote, “Everyone should thank Emily Henry! Tom and Emily are truly the ideal Poppy and Alex. I’m so excited for this!” Another agreed, saying, “My favourite Emily Henry book. These two perfectly capture Poppy and Alex. Gah. It was worth the wait!”

In addition to Blyth and Bader, the film features a talented cast including Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, Lukas Gage, Miles Heizer, Tommy Do, Alice Lee, Alan Ruck, and Molly Shannon.
Giving a sneak peek of what viewers can expect, Henry has complimented Blyth and Bader on their clear connection on screen. “I was really worried about finding the right actors for these roles,” the author explained to Netflix’s Tudum.
I am absolutely certain that both my readers and many others who haven’t even heard of the book yet will completely adore Poppy and Alex.
She continued, saying, “I read their chemistry scene four times within 12 hours, and I enjoyed it even more each time.” She added, “I was laughing out loud the first time I read it, and it made me really emotional by the end.”
Echoing this sentiment, director Brett Haley agreed: “Emily and Tom’s chemistry is electric. They capture that opposites-attract dynamic in a way that feels effortless and true.”
People We Meet on Vacation isn’t Henry’s only book being made into a movie. Film adaptations of Beach Read and Book Lovers are also being worked on, but not much information about them has been shared yet.
People We Meet on Vacation will land on Netflix on 9 January 2026.
